My grandma has always said that her mom made this really good pastry. It was a yeast based dough that had almond paste in the middle and was cut like a half moon shape. I was wondering if anyone knew what it is called or had the recipe. Thanks!
This probably ain't it . Called Marcepan (Marzipan)
1 lb blanched almonds, finely ground 1 lb powdered sugar (confectioner's sugar) 2 Tbsp orange water or rose water (Can be obtained from your local drugstore) food colouring and decorations 1 Combine ground almonds, sugar and flavouring in a saucepan. Cook until mixture leaves side of pan. 2 Roll almond mixture on a flat surface to a 1/2-inch (1-cm) thickness. Cut into shapes, mold, paint with food colouring, decorate, etc. 3 Place on wax paper to dry for 2 hours.
