Hello, I am moving to Poland with my Polish husband this summer. I am in the process of learning polish and trying to speak polish to our 4 month old daughter. We plan to live some of the year there and some of the year here in the states.

I love sweet potatoes (Yams) and eat them every week. Do you know if you can buy them or get them in the can in Poland? Also, is there chedder cheese and peanut butter? Pecans?

Thank you so much!

You can have it all in Poland. Even sweet potatoes in the can. They have supermarkets, You know? And if You look for something very special, You can order it on internet, for example: totu.com

I know they have supermarkets. I haven't been to a big one there yet. I have only been three time and have only been in the small corner food shops. I love Poland and am so looking forward to moving there. I was just curious. Thanks.

All those things are available, though if by cheddar cheese you mean the American kind, people tend to vomit at it's taste there. T

cheddar cheese

People shold stop call it "cheese". The best way to describe this product is "something what looks like cheese". Long live Gouda!

Ok, Arnie... I'm in Lublin and I haven't found a single Sweet potato. I was told by a polish native to go to Warsaw. Finding foods from the US can prove to be difficult sometimes. I have spent a good amount of time in 2 of the largest supermarkets in Lublin and it's crapshoot. Tescoo has had Cheddar cheese but it's 4X the cost of any other cheeses and they haven't had it more than once. I recommend trying new things and not getting your hopes up on favorite foods.

Good luck to you though and don't worry. The food here is overall BETTER! MMmmmm!

I have family in Poland and I live in Ohio. I have been trying to find seed sweet potatoes for someone to take them to Poland. We have not been able to locate uncanned potatoes

I found sweet potatoes in Poland when I was there in 2003 (I love sweet potato fries.. yummy.. :) ) In Polish they’re called BATATY. They’re not as popular in Poland I suppose as they are in North America but you can still get them.
