Are frikadels a Polish or are they German. My grand mother used to make them often and are pretty good. It looks just like a thick hamberger with some kind of sauce or gravy on it. I think they were called frikadels. Thanks

I think I heard this or similar word once or twice in my life. Maybe you meant "frykadelki"? But have no idea what it could be.

"Frikadels" as you call them, are a German thing. I used to get them ALLLLLLLL the time in Deutschland. They are awesome. Kind of the German version of an American Hamburger. No sauce on these, though.

Ground pork, chop onions really tiny, salt & pepper, egg plain bread crumbs. Mix it all together, make into burgers. Fry until cooked really well. Have it on a roll with mustard.

Aaaah. I think I will be having one when I come back to Europe. Sigh.

In Poland we called them "kotlety mielone". We ate them with or without sauce.
