CLEAR RED BARSZCZ OUT OF A CARTON?

Anyone tried Hortex or Krakus brand czerwony barszcz out of a carton for Wigilia? Some heat it up just as it comes, others "doctor it up" a bit (a tablespoon of red wine, a bit of garlic, a dash or marjoram or mushroom powder). Of course it's not like babcia used to make, but do you find it more or less acceptable.

Tastes too much like it came from a factory, not a kitchen. I prefer the home made variety.

I'd eat red barszcz out of a carton, why not? It's not as good as it gets but it warms the cockles

I buy it, I eat it, I like it.
I thought this has been around since the dawn of cartons?

warms the cockles

Sonja: He kissed me.
Boris: Any place I should know about?
Sonja: He warmed the cockles of my heart.
Boris: That's just great. Nothing like hot cockles.

Good old Woody. Woody, when are you getting out of prison? Let me see, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday...10 years.

That was a super sketch.

It's ok. I thought it would be horrible compared to home made but it wasn't as bad as I thought. Not taking anything away from the home made stuff which is best of course.

clear type soup with pierogies?

My grandmother used to make a sour clear type soup and serve it with pierogies. Does anyone have the name of this soup and the recipe? I guess it's called "barsz".
