Someone might translate it for you if you posted it.

Polish Cheese raisin Babka

I am visiting in Clifton, NJ until Sunday, 8/12. Will be going into the City tomorrow, Saturday 8/11. My late mother-in-law from South Amboy used to order a whole cheese raisin Babka from somewhere in the City every Christmas. Does anyone know of place in the City that sells cheese raisin Babka? I can either try to pick it up in the City tomorrow or place an order. I would love to surprise my husband and take some home. : )

I think you mean "sernik z rodzynkami" - (cheesecake with raisins). It should be available in a Polish grocery store - if there's one there.

recipe for Cheese Babka

Is the picture of the recipe the one you are referring too ? Because I wonder if you meant the one where it is in a bun, they do an apple one or a cheese one ? I noiced the recipe shown has poppy seed in it . The cheese baps/buns we had didn't.

I'll have a look for a recipe (written in English) if it's the one I think you might mean. If not, then I am sure some very kind person on the forum will translate the other recipe for you.

Happy baking and eating.

The cheese babka I am looking for is about 9 inches in diameter and it looks like a loaf of bread with cheese inside and a little lemony taste, you can also get them with raisins and no cheese. It has a sweet cake like taste and is great with coffee in the morning or as a snack with just butter on it. Thats the best I can describe it, it may be known by another name also.

Dont think ive ever heard of it. Although my polish boyfriend cooks a really good polish cheescake sort of thing. Just take some crumbled graham crackers, 200 g of sugar, 100g of melted butter, then 200g of cinnamon. When you've got all this mix it all togehter and press into buttered rectangular pan (8 x 11 inch). Bake 20 minutes at 180 degrees. Let stand to cool for like 20 mins.

Then for the topping mix half a pint of sour cream, 100g sugar and 1 tsp. vanilla and pour over top.

Hope you like it! x
