Your question has been an on going topic behind the scenes here at PF for many years and we have decided to do away with this particular indicator as it is not deemed necessary to distinguish sexes while contributing to the forum.

Due to on going pressure from the comity of anti-discrimination based on sexual orientation. It has been made clear that categorising people and dividing them in to 'sexes' is a sexist act in itself.

Even if the individual is doing it to themselves, as it discriminates all those who are attracted to the same sex, feel like the other sex, all those who have recently gone through sex changing operations (including all those that want the said operation) and all those that are just to lazy to check which sex they are and too stupid to remember. Also the artist formally known as prince was going to sue PF for not having his particular symbol.

Those little signs were helpful. Lack of them just adds to my constant confusion about peoples. I have hard time remembering who is who as it is (well, was ...)
