I uploaded a photo from my computer to a post.
It was cropped to a square profile in the published post.
Is there a way to avoid this ?

I've just signed up with photobucket, which, I guess that may help but I like to use my own computer for my photo store.

I couldn't find a way to edit photos in a post that had already been published.
Have I missed something ?

One more thing,

The forum won't allow me to upload my avatar, I have made it a 4k jpg, I can't make it any smaller.
Any ideas ?

Many thanks in anticipation.

Smiley.

Got it.

I optimized the photo in Photoshop so it was small.

The avatar still won't load.

Many thanks for the speedy reply.

Max. size - 5 Kb. Max. width - 85px; Max. height - 100px.. did you check the dimensions as well? you might need to crop it a bit.

What happened to the profile pictures, why are they all streched? It doesn't look very good...

The script was updated and improved; the negative is that some previously-uploaded files may look distorted because of a different resizing algorithm..

They look blurry.

Now they're tiny.
It was fine the way it was before...

They look blurry.

They may do (but not yours as I saved it and re-uploaded) - check now.

the one where people's pics turned up normally :(

If you re-upload your pictures they should be fine, mine are.

Paint or photoshop should be fine for trimming or converting your pics, but you can also try this specific avatar creating website:

MyPictr.com

I did mine with this as Paint was being a bi-atch due to my avatars resolution.
