Sending money- Oz to Poland (Not Western Union)

Hi All,

I'm getting married in Poland later in the year to my wife who is Polish and we are looking to send some money back there to pay for it.

Is there any other way to send it other than Western Union? They seem like such a rip off especially if you have to send a few thousand dollars.

Is it possible to do it by bank transfer? I thought it would be... Do Polish banks use a IBAN number like the Oz, UK and Ireland ones do?

My wife has asked in two Australian Banks and they said it was not possible. I'm sure you would be able to do it as there must be businesses out there that import items from Poland to Australia and they would need ways to pay their bills.

Thanks in advance for any help

Try forex company, they charge a very small margin(0.5%).Ideal if you going to transfer large amount(£10000+).

try Hifx.com or xe.com

There is no problem with transfer money by bank transfer. IBAN number is used by banks in Poland. Of course everything depends on charges you gonna pay.

My advice:
Don't send more than 5000,00 AUD at once.

Czesc,

I use Moneybookers, its a pain in the arse to set up and verify your account (you have to wait for a letter to be sent) but its well worth the wait, when its only about 80c per transaction to transfer money and $3 per transaction to withdraw money from you MB account to your bank account.
