Lukasz 49 | 1,746 25 Apr 2008 #91I think that you are going to get about 4 000 after taxes (you need to check it).If you are selfemployed tax will be lower (flat 19%)as to costs of living in Poland there is a lot of discussions about it on PF.£ódz isn't expenisve city.
milmber - | 9 28 Apr 2008 #92Hi Matt,First off, congratulations on the job offer. It is a good offer. Depending on your experience and the company, etc..you could do better. I'd say ask for at the very least 10 000zl brutto (aim high and negotiate down). While the cost of living in Poland is lower than London, etc..it is rising. You can work out your tax on the following website:praca.gazeta.pl/gazetapraca/0,75037.htmlJust enter your gross monthly salary and select "brutto", "umowa o prace", "Nie" and "Nie". Click the "Policz" button. Click the "Obliczenia roczne" tab. The "Wynagrodzenie netto" column will give you a breakdown of your net income by month (yes it varies - so a budget is essential!)Additionally, check your contract. Most Polish contracts are for a year...and then is renewed by mutual consent.Good luck and hope it helps.

MrX 8 May 2008 #94Please be aware that the tax is progressive i.e. the percentage raises after certain yearly income level is passed. Therefore with 6000 gross salary starting on January 1st you will have about 4200 net January to September and will drop down to about 3600 net starting October. As you are starting now you will not pass the first level (44490) which means you will not observe the decrease this year but it is something good to know. Honestly speaking it is even more funny as social security has the opposite effect i.e. increases net salary. The system is quite complex. Anyhow 6000 is correct salary and you will be able to save some money. Good luck.
Kamil_pl 10 May 2008 #95which means you will not observe the decrease this yearI think that he will not observe it in 2009 either. Because in 2009 there will be new income tax rules. By earning 6000 gross he will pay 18% income tax. 32% income tax will be above 85 000 a year, so with 6k he won't reach it.

Somerled 5 | 93 31 May 2008 #107hmmm...I work for myself and have clients in the states, etc. with only a small amount of clients (small like one, so far) in Poland. Pretty sure I'll be alright money-wise but got to wonder what the tax issues are.
lost in poland 2 Jun 2008 #108HI THEREPoland is certainly a beautiful place to live. Its people is very friendly and helpful specially if they know you are an outsider. I lived there for at least six months. People was amazingly nice at all times. Also most of the young people who work in international companies speak English, so you are safe on that side. However, the salaries are extremely low in comparison with other countries from the E.U.,but I recommend you to try. My husband is an engineer with master, great credentials and qualities. Nevertheles, his salary was not at the same level of his qualifications. One thing that I forgot to mention is that Poland surprised me because of its history. As you know they went through all that crap and they are still standing and they will move forward. Who knows, with such amazing strenght they may become a powerful country if their youth knows how to take advantage of this new changes going on now. By the way, Krakow is cool.
badabing 6 Jun 2008 #1098000zl a month after tax for two people will allow you to pay rent/morgage, have holidays, run a decent car, eat well, dress well and save.Thtas about £2000 a month or $4000
dx 22 Jul 2008 #110Hi,I have also been contacted by an international company in Krakow and they are offering me about 5000PLN nett a month, good or not?Regards,
miranda 22 Jul 2008 #1115000PLN nett a monthnot bad. It depends what kind of job we are talking about. But you knew that, didn't you.
dx 22 Jul 2008 #112Miranda,It's an office job at a multinational company. In the finance department, but I am native Dutch-speaking, which is also the main reason why they need me.
indiced - | 6 22 Jul 2008 #113dx,Krakow, beautiful, but crowded city. 5K is quite good, you can even save some money, because living costs are much lower than in Warsaw, but higher than in Wroclaw or Lublin.

vanburen3 22 Jul 2008 #115I am an IT Contractor my wife is Polish so i live in Warsaw...Standard of life here is so much better than most other countries.....i now need to work 6 mnths of the year
theblueenigma 3 | 188 20 Aug 2008 #117lol some of the posts here are hillarious. Ive just read a Polish guy that wrote 6719PLN after tax every month is 'peanuts' !!! What a clown. My girlfriend is Polish and lives in krakow which is pretty expensive compared to other areas in Poland. Ive lived in krakow for a while and plan on returning again soon teaching. The average salary in poland is about 2000PLN a month and people seem to get by. I have met people working in village shops working for 1300PLN a month (minimum salary is about 1,126 PLN) but I would imagine living on that would be very tight. For someone to receive 6719 PLN a month would be considered a good salary and I would imagine it would be on a par with what a dentist for example might expect. Some of the posts here regarding salaries are pretty funny, so take most of them with a pinch of salt
brazilii 8 | 97 20 Aug 2008 #118For someone to receive 6719 PLN a month would be considered a good salaryIt's a good salary, but nothing outstanding. A private dentist, for example, should earn much more than that.
Grzegorz_ 51 | 6,149 20 Aug 2008 #119Average salary in Poland now is ~2250PLN net but generally salaries vary very much between different regions, sectors or given companies. Sometimes people doing exactly the same job can make in comapny X two or even three times than in Y.
