Quitting my work, going to the next one in Poland! Help and advice needed.

Hello PF members!

I have a serious concern and cuz I'm new to Poland, I need your help & advice!!

My concern is as following.

I want to quit my current job in Poland (Company A) and move to another company(company B) in Poland.
I've just arrived here but I got a much better offer from company B, so I've accepted it and agreed to start working for them from July.

Company B has asked me to submit necessary documents(which I have all ready and will submit next week)
HR in Company B will take care of my work permit stuff.

When I came to Poland I've made a 1-year contract with company A. As long as I know, my contract is a normal one like other Polish people.

My contract says "UMOWA O PRACĘ" or "Contract of employment"
and below is all of what my contract says about the termination of the contract.

4) Employment status and duration: Contract with the employee effective from 7th of may 2012,. Contract is signed for 12 months definite period, it is mean to the end of 06/05/2013. It is confirmation that above mentioned contract can be terminate with two weeks of termination rules.

10) Termination: The contract can be terminate be both side on the grounds specified by the laws of the Republic of Poland. For calculation termination period this contract will be handled in accordance with the Polish Labor Code. The emplyer may terminate this contract on the grounds specified by the laws of the Republic of Poland. No notice shall be required where the contract comes to an end by mutual agreement.

So my main concerns about qutting...

- Like the code 4 says, may notify my employer 2 weeks before July, that I will quit?
- Is it okay to give company A, a shorter notice like 1 week, and quit?
- Are there other things that I should be aware of?

If it was my home country, I would not worry at all. I know employers cannot do much against me quitting rapidly.
But, I'm in a completely different country so I'm nervous about this.

Please help me.

Thank you

Anybody? Please share what you know. I would greatly appreciate it :)

Answers to your questions

Yes
No - work your two weeks notice by law. In practice company A probably never want to see your face again so will let you gomthe same day.

Yes - be very sure on your work permit issues for company B. If they don't sort it you may have big problems.
