Work permit can take about 3 months. As far as I know after getting work permit you need to apply visa from your home country and it will take 1-2 weeks.

[Moved from]: Work permit in Poland (how long does it take?)

Dear All,

would appreciate your advice - what is the procedure and how long it might take to get work permit in Poland, in case I already hold National "D"-type visa for 1 year and currently stay in Poland? I have a job-offer, and would like to start asap - is there any way to accelerate the process?

Many thanks!

thank you. In terms of procedure there is a lot information, but I also would like to understand how and if it's possible to speed up the process? Probably some forum-members can share their personal experience :-)

it's possible to speed up the process

Sure, stop asking question on an internet forum and go in person to find out exactly what you need, how many copies, what stamps so all your paperwork is in order.

No need to go anywhere, an email or phone might be enough. Or have it done by a representative if you don't know the language and procedures are blurry for you. Depending on your particular situation and details it can last 3-5 weeks, and also without your presence...

Your company should be able to sort this out as this can't start employing you without a permit in place. Quickest one is job related

Hahahahahahaha :) Yea, go ahead, email all your questions :) I once emailed my local UM, I got an answer after two weeks. It said to... come in person. By that point I had already done what I needed to do and was on vacation.

I guess you dont have much experience with Poland's bureaucracy. Try dealing with the Urzad Skarbowy or PIP, youll be surprised how many different answers you can get from the same question. PIP is the best though, it took them 4 months to basically tell me that they cant do anything.

Its always better to go in person.

Laugh as much as you want, but:

Mate, I have been doing this for living. If I were

to go in person.

everytime I had a question to ask I'd be out of business or never at home. Calling and sometimes mailing - if you are sending documents (once you started some procedure is enough and worked for me) is really ok.

Try dealing with the Urzad Skarbowy

I do it on a regular basis.

or PIP

Yep.

youll be surprised how many different answers you can get from the same question

This is very true. Another truth is also, HOW you ask.

PIP is the best though

My experiences are better with Voivode office. They even call me back, which I'd rather not expect...

Its always better to go in person.

If you have time to run around offices - sure. But I don't. So I call or email. I always get responses. And when I was in the middle of getting sth done it happened that they even recognized me by my voice. Maybe you are not experienced with gov't offices.

Merged: Processing time in Polish Work Permit

HI All,
My employer based out a Warsaw is processing Work permit for me. I have read in previous threads (very old posts) that it takes around 60-90 days for processing of one application. It is still same or with time it has improved/reduced ?

I have few more queries, i would be thankful if any one can answer.

1. What all mandatory documents one needs before filing WP applications ?
2. Do we also require passport for applying WP?
3. Post WP,when we apply for VISA in home country, how much time does it takes for VISA processing ?
4. Initially WP is processed for 1 yrs , what after that, do we need to renew WP, if yes then it can be done for how long ?

I hope some one who has recently gone through all this process can answer.

Thanks in advance

Merged: How much time does it take employer to process work permit?

Hello All,

I am an IT professional and currently working in India.
My profile is under process for an opportunity in Poland and soon my employer will be processing Work permit for me.
I have been reading posts to get an idea about how much time does it take to process work permit.
I checked few old posts and found it takes about 2-3 months.
Does it still take 2-3 months of time to process work permit ?

I would really appreciate if someone recently moved to Poland on work permit could share his/her experience.

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi.
I moved recently (Jan/2014) from Brazil to Poland.
The company took care to get my VISA done.

Yes, it took about 2 months:
- Receive documents from Poland;
- Schedule interview in Poland Consulate in Brazil;
- Book ticket travel.

So, you can wait 2/3 months. It'ss ok!

Yes, it took about 2 months

Thanks for the reply Ipinho !!!
I guess once the work permit is processed and sent to me, I will have to process my work visa.
Form your reply I suppose it took about 2 months for you to get the work permit and process visa, isn't it ?
May I ask how much time it took for your employer to process work permit and send you ?

Thanks again.

Merged: Waiting for Work Permit, how long to get Poland's Visa?

Hey Everyone!

I have a work permit/visa question. But I will give you some history before I ask.

I am a student here in Poland. I am American and I have been living here for 3 years. I have completed all of my classes and I'm now working on my Masters thesis. 2 months ago, I went on an interview and I was offered a job. My new boss said that because of the work permit that my starting date would be around the beginning of November. After inititiating contact with my new boss twice in 2 months because I didn't hear anything back, human resources finally got to me about this. They just started to submit paperwork for the work permit (today) and said it will take 6-8 weeks (the official website said less than a month in most cases). Fine, I'm a little annoyed by the fact that it took so long, but fine. Human resources also said that after the work permit is processed, they would be sending me paperwork so that I can apply for a visa. I was a little surprised by this. I thought the work permit is enough?! And also I'm a bit nervous. This is because the only way I know to get a visa is to apply in your home country. Mine being the USA. The reason I applied for a job is because I need to work because I need money, which means I don't have enough to make a return trip to the US to apply for a visa.

Does anyone know if there's any way around this? Such as maybe going to a Polish consulate in a nearby country to get this visa, or mailing my passport to the consulate in the US to process it?

I would appreciate any input on this.

Thanks,

Zloty

Merged: Applying for Visa with Work Permit, do I need to go in person? [USA]

Hi all -

I live in the USA and will soon receive my Polish work permit via the courier.

To apply for the VISA, do I just need to send the required documents in to the D.C Embassy or do I need to go in person? Furthermore, will I need to send health insurance forms and 'funds to stay,' if I am working in Poland?

Thank You

do I need to go in person?

You need to apply in person.
Other subjects are not followed consistently. Better call and check with the embassy.

Does anyone know if there's any way around this?

Quite late but since I just saw your question... Since you are already in Poland and I assume you are staying legally here then you don't need to go back home and apply for a visa. You can simply collect your work permit in person. I heard that they merged work permit and residence permit into a single document but do ask just to be on the safe side.

You have to go there (they need to collect biometric data for the new Visa Information System for Schengen visas). Also, you now need to register in advance of your visit to the consultate.
