Hungary and Poland are difficult to choose between. If your judgement were to be based purely on women, I'd agree with the Polish recommendations. Practically speaking though (having spent some time in Hungary), I'm very fond of it and would be inclined to lean that way purely because I have more experience of things functioning fairly over there. Personally I have more of an interest in Polish culture than Hungarian though.

Once I met a girl from Hungary named Boglarka. Upon hearing her name I tactfully replied: "This sounds like a tractor brand name". Fortunately she was even more drunk than me so my faux pas went seemingly unnoticed.

What is the relevance of this? Well it seems like they (Hungarians) can drink with manners (unlike me).

Do you prefer pierogis? Choose Poland.
Do you prefer goulash? Choose Hungary.

Edit:

oops, southern was first with this idea:

If you like goulash and Hun women full of tatoos and piercings go to Hungary. If you like pierogi and slavic chic poland is a choice.

Sorry.

BTW, isn`t it interesting to see how widespread the stereotypes are? :):):)

These were my thoughts..

i dont know why EU people talk alt about Hungarian women

I had realised they did...But you shouldnt let that worry you, your chances of scoring one is zero, they have pretty high standards.

As far as I am aware, Hungary is a very popular location for Medicine study, generally held in very high regard (especially the academies in Pecs and Szeged, which seem to be especially popular with Norwegians and Israelis). I have no idea about the quality of this field in Poland.

Medical school in Hungary is 350th in world rankings while Poland's is about 500th if this says sth to you.Generally all universities in eastern Europe rank very low( best is the Charles university in Prague).Of course if I were to head for an Arab country where only connections matter after graduation I would choose a very easy university in eastern Europe where I can bribe and have a high life.

Where is your source for this? I only ask because I see a lot of Norwegian medical students here in Krakow and I have had friends who say the quality of medical care in Norway is marvellous. Surely Norway wouldn't want to tarnish a very high quality health service by sending students of sub-par universities??

I see a lot of Norwegian medical students here in Krakow and I have had friends who say the quality of medical care in Norway is marvellous. Surely Norway

These are students who did not pass the exams to enter norwegian or even swedish university.Don't fool yourself. They usually come from families with large incomes since they have to pay about 8000 euro per year tuitions. They will have later problem to find position in Norway since they are regarded second category.Norwegian system does not have to do with them.

Never trust doctors and their logic, they are used to distortion.

Here you see that Krakow's university(whole not just medical school) ranks 302th by british estimations(which are more favorable than US or chinese).

krakowpost.com/article/1631

Here you see another ranking.Krakow's university ranks 363rd,Wroclaw's 587th,Warsaw's 612th and university of Lodz 1218th in the world.

webometrics.info/top100_europe.asp?country=pl

I remind that this regards general university ranking not just medical faculty. For example according to the above table medical university in Wroclaw ranks 2769th in the world. I don't understand how sb pays 8000 euro per year to study in a school with such a ranking.

This is a very interesting chart, and I am not quite sure I understand their ranking system (which I read over, but I'm still half asleep and only skimming). It seems strange that they don't leave the USA until Cambridge comes in at 22.

The ranking does seem very US-centric, and while I am not denying there are obviously great Universities in the USA, having all top 21 in the world seems slightly embellished. However I am no expert on Universities so I could very well be wrong.

[edit: just looked at another report, still giving the top 5 to the USA (I never realised exactly HOW good harvard was) but slightly more international: [timeshighereducation.co.uk/world-university-rankings/2010-2011/top-200.html]

I now understand about the Norwegian students though, thanks for clearing that up.

Yes,US have the best universities in the world.Try to enter one of the famous ones and you will understand why.

one criteria for high place in rankings is that the professors must publish their works in ENGLISH.that's why there are so many american universities ranking high. polish professsors can be genius in their domain but if their works are not published in english the university will be low in rankings, other things matter here as well: the number of students [er professors, number of computers etc. it doesn't mean that the smartest students are studying at university No.1 in the world.

Both Poles and Hungarians are great nations.

However, it seems that Polish is much easier than Hungarian.

When you meet a girl and decide to settle down, it will be easier to learn Polish than Hungarian.

First of all there is no exam to pass to study medicine in Norway. Its all about ur grades from high school. If you want to study in either Poland or Hungary you should ask your self. Are you really motivated to study medicine? Are you willing to study 10-12 hours a day, every day?

I study myself in budapest, and I have a lot of friends who study in Poland. I saw one guy said u can just bribe urway through the school in central/eastern europe. If you would even try this you will be banned/blacklisted from every university in Europe. They are very strict about these things here since there has been talk about this in the past.

In Norway medical school is much lighter on the theory and there is more focus on the clinical things. If you would get accepted in Norway you are more or less a doctor. This is not the case in Hungary. In the two first years they will do anything they can to fail you: Why?

1. Because getting an MD is not about being just a good student, its also that you need to prove that ur motivated to be a doctor and that you are strong enough to handle defeat.

2. When you have to repeat a year, you have to pay more...

Except from that studying in Hungary is fantastic, I love every second of it. And Im proud that when I pass my final year I can say that I deserve that MD title. And btw you will more theory than most other candidates from other European/US med. universities.

And dont care about the rankings, it doesnt tell you anything about how much you have to study and how good doctor you will be.
