If 4000 is too little the push for 5000, but you may wait for a right offer, for a very young guy that can be pushing it a bit. I'm not in Poland but used to be based in Warsaw, I work for international company and to be honest we pay our grads and juniors in Warsaw more in line with your first offer. But keep looking, good luck! Do you have degree from good Uni?

I'm still in the last year of University as in Italy we do 5 years of high school+ 4 of university but I'm not in a rush to finish it as I still have a lot of time.

I'm studying International Relations and Foreign Studies it's not relevant to what i do but i decided to go there because I was really into the subjects

Thanks again for the reply do you have any tip/advice regarding Poland?

Many thanks again.

do you have any tip/advice regarding Poland

In terms of living - stick to bigger cities, for a young guy there is more to do there and people are more open minded.

Warsaw, Krakow, Tri-city, Wroclaw - these are nice, Poznan should also be OK.
In Warsaw you will earn more, but will also pay more for accommodation and going out.
Try to find someone to share apartment with, it will be cheaper than living alone, but don't rent a room only, they are usually untidy as people who have been put together randomly find it difficult to share responsibilities of keeping place clean.

Try to find a place outside with good communication links to the center (but outside center).
Compare prices of furnished vs. unfurnished, you can buy stuff you need second hand (allegro.pl is a Polish equivalent to e-bay, but ebay also functions in Poland).

In terms of salary - don't expect too much, you are still young and Poland does not pay much for entry positions. What they were offering to you is perfectly fine, if you want to move (for sake of experience, take it) - if you want to move for money, you may need to finish studies first and get more experience. You will earn substantially more one or two levels up.

That's all from the top of my head - any specific areas that you are interested in?

Hello Phtoa,
Thank you very much for your response. Can you please also tell me about average cost of living in poland? I lead a very simple life ( no booze, not much eating out only I like going around & seeing historical places, a bit of tourism).

One more query, what could be my net (netto salary) if gross salary is 18600 PLN.
Regards,
SS

Well in that case you can live very cheap.
An apartment will cost you like 2500PLN pr month, around 80-100 Square meters. Food for your and your family will be no more than 1500 PLN pr month.

So together those things will be 4000PLN pr month, and your net salary would be something like 13.000 PLN net pr month give or take a few hundred.

Then you will have 8000PLN after food and rent is paid pr. month to have fun, buy clothes, save, etc. + your bonus.

But seeing that you are working with SAP (i assume then that your a SAP consultant) correct?
Then this salary really isnt that attractive.

Hello Phtoa,

SS

Unless you generate a huge added value for your company i find this offer quite extraordinary for a monthly pay in Krakow in your industry.

What's the name of this company?
We are on the internet and some people might exaggerate but if this offer is true you should jump on it because you and your family will live almost like kings with this sort of monthly pay.

Its true that this does sound like an extremely good salary (especially in Krakow)
But case is the guy is working with SAP, all the outsourching businesses in Krakow uses this system so they need good professional people who knows this system, and can help them improve using it.

So 18600 pr. month doesnt sounds that crazy, there is a big demand for people with these skills in this city.
But ill def agree with you that he should take the job, and that him and his family can live a very good life here on this salary.

They offer is good here in Krakow!
But in case you were to work in Warsaw, i woulnt accept this offer.

Since I have no idea which country you come from ill just tell you that if you worked in Denmark or another nordic country, your salary being a SAP tech-functional consultant your salary would be nothing less than 8000 EUR groos pr. month

Yes of course Scandinavia offers very high salaries but taxes are incredibly high too so in terms of purchasing power i think Poland is better.

We can compare with very rich countries like Switzerland too but we can also compare with countries like India where rich countries are massively outsourcing their activities.

I would just be curious to hear the name of the company in Krakow...

I agree, i would rather have that salary in Krakow than 8000 EUR in Denmark where they then cut 62% taxes.

Regarding the company i wouldnt be surprised if it was for one of the Majors like Capgemini, or HCL.

You should be fine if you eat in cheap restaurants and live on the high floors of a block. I earn around the same and do just fine. You may need to do overtime once and a while to foot the monthly bills. However,People like Dell earn a lot less, and they also seem to survive. Amazing really.

So not only do you lie endlessly about housing, but you also lie endlessly about the cost of living.

Poor show. Kasia really should let you out once in a while.

Majors like Capgemini

I have a friend working as an international manager for Capgemini Krakow. No way this lind of salary could take place for a SAPat Cagemini Krakow , that's why i asked SS1313 where the offer came from.

The good thing is that it would send pay at those places higher if it is a serious offer.

What a load of rubbish! A five-course meal in the finest restaurant in Poland (which is a nailed-on certainty to be the first place in Poland to get a Michelin star next year) is 450zl (plus another 200zl or so for drinks and then a 10% service charge). At 18,600zl per month one could eat there every week without noticing the expense.

I earn around the same and do just fine.

He is talking monthly income, not annual.

Well, you'd still need to be tight with the cash. It's not that much.

Well, I am not exaggerating anything here, I am infact getting this salary + some bonus %age.
But I cannot reveal my company as this is confidential. I work as an Solution Architect in SAP and come directly from SAP Labs with 8+ yrs experience.

thanks for all your comments, well I guess the offer is decent & I am also looking to save some good money.....have lots of loan (mortgage) on my head in my home country.

Forget managers, they dont have the IT skills. I work in Capgemini, and i know for a fact that being a manager is low paid compared to the lots of hours they work.

But Capgemini would on the other hand pay this amount of money for a person with the proper skills in a system like SAP.

But yea in case this offer i true, he should just start making a biding war betweem the big outsourcing places in this city and see who will be able to pay him the most.

Hi Guys ...

I will be relocating to Wroclaw soon. I have been offered 11K PLN gross per month. My wife and a 2 year old kids will be joining with me. How good is this salary for the 3 of us ? Will I be able to spend, save and have an above average life style with this salary in Wroclaw ?

your salary being a SAP tech-functional consultant your salary would be nothing less than 8000 EUR groos pr. month

The purchasing power that you would have with 18600 PLN gross in Poland is much greater than the fictional 8000 euro gross in Denmark. Make the simple calculation yourself. After the danish tax reduction of 62% you would get around 3040 euro netto. In Poland, assuming a tax reduction of 30%, you get 13 000 PLN per month which is almost the same as the net salary in Denmark.

Now compare the prices in Denmark, 3 to 4 tims higher than in Poland, somethings can rise up to 10 times higher!!!. Aditionally, if you would like to buy a car in Denmark you would have to pay 210 % (yes you read correctly, two hundred ten freaking percent ) the price of the car in taxes. In Denmark, you would be forced to drive a bike to reduce CO2 emissions (joke). If you bring a car you bought in Poland to Denmark, you would have to pay 60% the price of the car in the danish market in order to register it there, basically the tax is higher than what the car costs in Poland (I want to add that cars are more expensive in Poland than in Germany).

You should add this stuff, before mentioning the 8000 euros you would 'earn' monthly in Denmark.
