Yes and to stuff oneself like a pig.

The first time I went to a Chinese "All you can eat" place I thought it's the sickest place on earth. It's like a hang out club for the obese folks.

or a Old Country Buffet just watching them eat plate after plate and pour liters of Pepsi down to make room for more, disgusting.

I'm not fat Guesswho u saw my pics lol. I'm 230 lbs. at 6'6 the BMI says i should be 220 but at my height it's hardly noticeable, plus i exercise.

France's obesity crisis: All those croissants really do add up, after all well that's the pasteries, sweets. But dinner wise the roasted or cooked meats with rice and veggies topped with a glass of wine is healthy.

The French secret of fat

We French eat four times as much butter and 60% more cheese than the average American, but we stay thin. How do we do it?

I never get those places - one can only eat so much!

The French secret of fat

They're still a million miles away from the US and the UK though...But they do have a McD's on every corner now (that's what I noticed in Nice a few years ago I imagine Paris is even worse).

Its about balancing what goes in and how much you exercise take...something most lazy people dont get...

cause Polish people cringe seeing such terrible mistakes.

We're not speaking Polish though...

is there such a thing as a German restaurant outside of Germany?

Yes, there are plenty of German restaurants in the US.

Why are Polish restaurants not successful in the USA?

I thought about it today while cooking and I decided it's because of the kids. America is one endless suburb and the favorite past time activities of suburban people is going to the movies and going out to eat. The biggest customer segment has small kids and unfortunately the kids are not very adventurous when it comes to food. They want to eat pizza, pasta, hamburgers, sweet and sour chicken and tacos. So those restaurants flourish. Polish food is not a kid friendly food. Therefore the customer base is limited to Poles and a few older people without kids.

Marynka:

how many kids do you see running through sushi bars.....yet they seem to be doing alright.

polish food is boring, americans don't run to it mainly because it just looks like what mom used to cook them when they were little. meat, potatoes, random salads pretending to be healthy, sausages, starchy fatty meals made with cheap ingredients.....it doesn't excite the tastebuds like MEXICAN! or PIZZA! or something like that. also, americans know next to nothing about poland so when they see a polish restaurant, they have no idea what to expect so they just pass it on by. mexican food, italian food, indian food, chinese food, japanese food.....they know exactly what they're going to have on the menu.

every cuisine needs to have some sort of gimmick, some way of being fun to eat. polish food looks like you just cooked it yourself at home.....which is boring.

Huh? Cajun as in the French descendants in Louisiana? It's funny because I've met a few Cajuns and they had an obsession with Italian sausage...

The ones that came from Acadia. Yep, they were French at some point with many stops in between Louisiana Bayou and France. They use Polish sausage in Jambalaya.

I didn't say you're fat, I said that if you eat slowly and exercise , you're gonna stay slim :-)

We French eat

PB, why do you think I provided that link? I did it to show you that French are catching up, slowly but surely. I've been to France many times when I lived in Germany, there are many fat people too.

It's not really what we eat here (not only anyway) that makes us fat but mainly our way of life. Everyone is getting fat nowadays, you guys (Poles) too. I can easily provide links to support what I just said.

People are getting fat because they eat too much good food and don't have horses to shoe and places to walk to like they used to. Fields to plow with oxen. Now we drive to the store and get a Reese Peanut butter cup. Or maybe twenty of them.

I know why you thin I exercise? lol

French

Poles

Yes but what is fat in Europe is chubby here. Besides Poland I've also been to Germany and Denmark the fattest people in Europe don't even come close to some of folks in the US.

I know why you thin I exercise? lol

because you told me that

Yes but what is fat in Europe is chubby here.

you can call it what you want, the end result is the same.

Besides Poland I've also been to Germany and Denmark the fattest people in Europe don't even come close to some of folks in the US

not true. Maybe you just didn't stay long enough in Europe to see it. I do agree with you that we still have more fat people than the European countries but as I said earlier, you guys are catching up.

Uhh I was born there and used to live there. Been back to Poland 6 times and visited other countries as I've stated above. I also have family and friends in France and Ireland so I know. 2/3 Americans are overweight expecting to rise to 3/4 in the next 10 years. over 30% are obese UK is the only country coming close.

now compare other European nations:
Poland 11.4 percent
UK 23.0
Germany 12.9
Belgium 11.7
France 9.4
Italy 8.5

2/3 Americans are overweight

according to your own link:

30.6 USA (almost 1/3 of Americans, not 2/3)
23.0 UK
22.4 Slovak Rep. (your neighbors)
11.4 Poland

I never said that there are more fat people in Poland than here but I'm telling you again, you guys are catching up whether you like it or not.

"W Polsce, niestety, jest podobnie: co czwarty Polak i co piąta Polka są otyli. Znaczenie problemu otyłości potęguje dodatkowo fakt, że dotyczy ona coraz to młodszych ludzi, w tym także dzieci, np.: w Polsce liczba 'puszystych' dzieciaków wzrosła o co najmniej kilkanaście procent."

pulsmed.com.pl

A Polish link because you might not believe what Americans write about it.

30.6 USA (almost 1/3 of Americans, not 2/3)

Well, good clarification.. but it's still disgusting in my opinion.

1/3 is much better. Actually PB, UK is close. So are quite a few other countries, Mexico, Greece, and Slovak Republic to name three. These places have people who eat too much in them. Some countries have people who love to overeat, apparently. Polish people, in general, don't seem to.

As long as you'll say that it's disgusting in general, not just here ...

over 30% of Americans are obese, 2/3rd are overweight. There's a difference

did you read the Polish text too, I repeat again: "co czwarty Polak i co piąta Polka są otyli".

You are catching up my friend. PB, you know I like you and I respect your patriotism but please don't get yourself blinded by it.

It is in general.. but look at us leading the goddamn way on this :\ . I have no pity whatsoever for these fat slobs and will mock them openly. I also hope they die soon so I'm not stuck with the bills for their bypasses. I am completely serious. It's not funny; it's pathetic. You allow yourself to get that fat .. you did that to yourself. No one else's fault and now you've got to pay for it.

And the bill for the lap bands. What is so hard about shrinking the stomach down by eating less. People can't do that and opt for major surgery.

Half truth in my eyes. I blame the system too since it's responsible for our way of life. This is why I always scream for radical changes in the US, we need discipline here. Staying fit is a part of it.

Europeans, on average, tend to be thinner. Even their models are much smaller than American ones. American models can't even fit into their clothes.

Food is a lot more expensive there too though (vs real wages).

PP, you didn't pay attention to what was said and posted here earlier. Again, they're catching up fast.

undeniable fact. Who knows how fat Europeans would be right now if their food was as cheap as ours, let's say 30 years ago.
