in my old apartment, a long time ago, gołębie have made their nest all the time... i removed it at the evening and in the morning it was back brand new... my gołębie had eggs all the time, but only twice the little babies... they usually broke eggs by accident... my gołębie were loud, dirty and stinky so i didn't like them that much... i remember when we had the whole family on a balcony and it was a remont in my apartment, one of the workers once took the whole familiy away, and he told me that he ate them... i was a kid, what did i know... i missed my gołębie...

I missed them so much I couldn't sleep at night... the next day I put a rat poison in the worker's lunch... he died a slow and agonizing death vomiting all over the place... I remember slipping in his puke thinking gosh this looks just like the fresh gołębie ***... ah those were the days of my childhood's Polska... I think I'm gonna have some gołąbki for dinner tonight...

awesome;)

you can have the eggs and the nest and the parents, I know you have developed a soft spot for the whole family.

I was planning to do IT tonight, but I didn't have the courage. I am Miss procrastination. I have been planning to tell my friend off and I still have not, I have been planning to get rid of the pigeons' egg and I still haven't.

I am a big chicken.

snippets of my diary upon arrival, which I think I have not included here:

Sunday, October 24, 2010

It has been over a month since I have been here , in Poland and I think I am getting used to the country, I am working, paying bills, simply getting a life.

The novelty has worn off by now and all those Polish ladies/women in high heels and boots don't seem so peculiar anymore.

The weather for the most part has been fairly warm and sunny. As I remember and keep hearing this is not a typical Polish weather, but I am more then happy about the kindness of nature, since the winter is getting close.

Szczecin has never had a really, nor a snowy winter, yet, once can feel that the days are getting shorter and it is getting colder. It seems that most Poles are already depressed about the approaching winter and I am falling into their footsteps.

... cannot help myself, I have passion for this song. Always have, always will.

yep, I saw him there too:). Years ago though.

Unfortunately the Mother Pigeon is so cute and attentive that I still have not gotten to courage to rid her of the pleasures of motherhood.

they just turn on the siren to commemorate the 10.04.2010

Feeding time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well, remember when I was debating to trow the pigeon's eggs away? I cannot anymore since this morning while checking my balcony I noticed 2 yellow chicks freshly hatched. It has been only 3 weeks since they laid the eggs, even less!!!!!!!

4 more weeks till the young ones fly away, so I will have the balcony back by the mid of May - still OK in my books.

I am gonna check peek again, they are still somewhat wet.

they look like this

an update on the chicks.

They are doing well and are on the third day of life at the moment, so I gather they are still pretty fragile. The parents take turns on sitting and warming them up 24/7.

I will be away for a few days, so they will have the balcony to themselves.

Happy Easter!!!!!!!!!!!

Be very careful around the feces of these little airborne rodents.

It could kill you!!!

well, I don't use the balcony since it is a no man zone at the moment;). I opened the balcony to have a peek an they stood up probably thinking that I have some food for them - movement means food.

Update on chicks aka pigeon monsters

they are not yellow anymore. At the moment they are grey and they have grown quite a bit over the Easter break. They remind me more of a future looking eagles to be honest.

3 more weeks and they will fly away.

At the moment they are big enough to be named. They look alike and I cannot see the difference. I am thinking of naming them Crow and Sokrates. What do you think?

An update on my apartment.

Pan Kaziu - the one who wrecked havoc a couple of months ago and made a lot of mess and managed to fix something after all is BACK.

He left some things undone and he is making a lot of noise at the moment:)

both of them left a couple of days ago- time to clean up; )

The parents laid a couple of more eggs, but this time I was firm and got rid of the eggs in time.

nah, I don't eat pigeon's eggs, maybe Pawian does;).

Smart Polish kids:

Some smart kids' convo I overheard the other day (true story):

Zosia: You know Jasiu, I would love to stay in the kindergarten all my life.

Jasiu: No. ( in one breath) I think you got the things wrong. First you finish the kindergarden, then the primary school, then high school, then university, then you work, then you retire and then you die !!!!!!!!

Zosia: eh, I rather stay in the kindergarden then!!!!!!!!

To ShawnH:

I am still alive!!!!!!

I think he is quite interesting as a musician, his comments on X-faxctor are often sleazy to be honest. The funny thing is that I didn't notice his not so perfect Polish - lol. It must be the teaching getting to me.

Anyways, he reminds me of Tom Waits a bit. Def somebody to watch on the music scene.

I like him too, at one point in Catchy Kathy (1:03 and 2:29) someone goes 'to, tre, fire' in Danish! :D (two, three, four)!

interesting. He grew up in Denmark.

oh, so you like him too;). I am beginning to understand your Danish humour.

czeslaw does speak either danish

I have never been a big fan of TV - yet I am a big fan of music competition, I watched the American and the Canadian Idol (YES), so I switched to X- factor here. Was it worth coming home? Yes, but not because of the polish TV. Have I noticed any changes?

It has changed quite a lot and it became very Western - there is a lot of competition programs and tv became more of the entertainment then anything else.

while settling nicely or not so nicely in Poland (depending on the day) I went back to think about the city I left less then a year ago and this is what I found:(
