The spring is almost here

i'm glad to read that spring decided finally to visit you guys...

The spring in the US has been somewhat slow. Yesterday night felt like a winter night.

it is cold at night, but very nic, warm and sunny during the day... the tree in front of my house bloomed last week and looks beautiful with white flowers... it takes about two weeks and every tree is green....

:)

Let's remember it's still winter officially :) By me it's been cold and WET!

Wrong. Spring equinox is actually the middle of Spring. First day of Spring is Ground Hog Day. December 21st is Mid-Winter, being the shortest day of the year.

This is what I got: "An equinox happens each year at two specific moments in time (rather than two whole days), when there is a location (the subsolar point) on the Earth's equator, where the center of the Sun can be observed to be vertically overhead, occurring around March 20/21 and September 22/23 each year".

The first day of spring is when it feels like the first day of spring. You just know.

Very true.

HAHAHAHA

hey Fuzzy, how is it hanging?

too lazy to post these days.

Things are kind of slow these days, working a LOT, not enough time for fun.

It will be the first time I will be going out to the pub tonight in 5 months - speaking of a dry spell;)

I will report later how the meeting with co-workers and the students went.

Polish Boots Mastered at last

Yes, I would like to report that I am an accomplished Polish Boot Wearer (if there is such a thing). After many failed attempts I can now walk in style. Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!! Zip it up baby!!!!!!!!!! Click. click.

Pierogies

there is a place Pierogarnia, which I have been occupying lately. Perogi Ruskie - here I come!!!!!! I became addicted to that place - the food is fresh, the interior cosy, so I gave up the milk bar where I had meals from time to time. Not to mention the presence of the big carp swimming in the aquarium, which, as I later found out is/was a large and well fed Pirania. That's what I like about Poland. The mix and mismatch of things, not always logical - but often amusing and charming.

I used to prefer Ruskia however since that day in a restaurant just outside Katowice the meat version gets my vote every time, man can they make peirogi, the stuff of legend its worth a 150 mile journey just for that - really.

man, I wish Mt. Dew was healthy. healthy cigarettes would be fun too.

I love Doin' the Dew but I have backed off considerably. Once, maybe twice a week I'll Do the Dew.

I don't know if you guys get this in Europe, I never saw it when I lived in Poland but the new Mt. Dew, "Throwback", is pretty damn good. I was surprised. For those of you that have never heard of Mt. Dew Throwback, it's got the same wholesome goodness that regular Dew has, just they use real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. I'm a Dew connoisseur so I can tell the difference, it seems to be a tad bit dryer than regular Dew but still excellent. Also, if you're a Pepsi Cola drinker, they make Pepsi Throwback as well.

If you like soda and want to watch your weight, Throwback may be a better choice for you. Your body metabolizes real sugar and burns it for energy whereas high fructose corn syrup goes right to fat storage.

Your useless information for the day.

A lot of scaremongering about the ol' Dew. A real bogeyman re dental hygiene in the Appalachians isn't it? Never had it. Like a very sweet sprite or something?

Mt. Dew tastes nothing like Sprite. Mt. Dew is more lemon lime-ish. hard to explain.

also, if you try Mt. Dew in Poland, you're not drinking Mt. Dew. It's not even close.

I'm guessing youre a vegetarian.

no, but I tried the meat ones, the cheese and spinach one, the fruit ones an I went back to Russkie, but my late mother used to make excellent ones with fresh cabbage and the meat ones as well- they were divine:)

I used to prefer Ruskia however since that day in a restaurant just outside Katowice the meat version gets my vote every time, man can they make peirogi, the stuff of legend its worth a 150 mile journey just for that - really.

this place looks good, the one I go to is kind of generic and all they sell is pierogies.

Your useless information for the day.

:) I was never really fond of Mountain dew, but I love Ginger Ale - the Canadian one, so I know what you mean:). I am glad you are doing well.

pigeons are becoming a problem

been to busy to deal with a couple of pigeons and now they think that my balcony is their quarter. I am being woken up the the sound of their voices every morning and I am beginning to think that they are out of control.

They are nice enough, but .........I will be using the balcony soon.

Luckily I never had that much of a problem with pigeons on my balcony, the odd one or two would rest a while there until I'd get all Chuck Norris on them.

Problem I had with living next to the river was that plagues of Mosquitos that swarmed the flat at night time. If i left the smallest gap in the window my room would be covered in them. Noisy cretters they were and it would take me and my ex hours to get rid of them. This was only the beginning of our problem though, as when Autumn came we then had plagues of spiders which me, the ex and the flatmate all feared. One night we counted around 40 of them on the balcony alone, I remember getting woken up at 2am by my flatmate to come and help attack one man eater with a broom!!!!

The joys of Krakow :D

that must be IT;)

I must have adopted the Polish relaxed attitude because the pigeons still like my balcony and I could not care less at the moment.

The sun is shining, I am still feeling lazy trying to talk myself into doing something productive, but to no avail.

Baby pigeon
well,I just like to announce that the pigeons have settled on my balcony nicely, to the point that at the moment I am looking at the pigeons' nest with an egg in in. The mother ( I presume) just sat on it to keep it warm.

I am guessing I will not be using the balcony for a while.

In a meantime, I think I will have to think about the name for the baby pigeon, who I am hoping going to be a nice bird.

The father just landed next to the mother, so I have to close the blinds, because I don't want to disturb them.

Goodbye boxes of flowers, goodbye the balcony table and chairs. Well, at lest I don't have to go shopping for them anymore. I guess I am not gonna charge them rent:)
