Employee in USA, work visas and their renewals in Poland?

Hello

My daughter, who lives in Chicago, employs a lovely Polish woman as nanny to her son. My daughter will be having another child in the fall.

Last week, out of the clear blue, the nanny announced that she has bought an airplane ticket to go to Poland in a month.

She said that she needs to renew her visa every 3 years and that she must be gone 2 months. She then revised that to 6 weeks when my daughter (who works full time) showed her unhappiness with the situation.

Exactly what are the rules as to how often she must go back to Poland, for how long, etc? We are having an issue with the way this was presented, the extreme shortness of notice and the fact that she said she must go for 2 months and then changed it to 6 weeks. Frankly, I have lost faith in this lady and am worried that she won't show up on the day she is supposed to return. Now, the 60 year plus 2 grandmothers are going to be babysitting and one of us lives 6 hours away by car and the other lives in Nevada.

I would appreciate some clarification on what the Polish government requires and how long it takes to accomplish this type of business when the nanny gets there.

Thank you.

Polish government does not require anything.Forget her,she won't be back. Why don't you hire an American nanny? There is plenty of Americans looking for work.

its probably more of what the american goverment recquires. Its called doing a visa run. Once your visa has expired you have to leave the country to get a new one. If you think she is lovely you might want to give her the benefit of the doubt.

see, nannies have their lives too... maybe it was the only way to do so...
if you are frustrated with her, let her go and find another nanny, you've got plenty of time to do that... don't leave a bad after-taste from this relationship...

American immigration laws are complicated and varies depending on person's situation... she might had to do that...

PS - next time, i suggest, get more interested in your nanny's situation (and i don't mean-noisy), so nothing will surprise you like the situation you're (your daughter) in right now...

good luck...
