Lots of family, guns, intoxication, and flying....not in that order..

Dude, you should get all liquored up and go flying and shoot guns from your airplane! That would be cool! :D

Did you know that all private planes must get re-registered with the FAA? Yep. May as well take care of that while you're here.

Done that as a passenger in a trike :)

Actually that's a good point. Mine is still good for another year. Just a bit of added bureaucracy. The FAA is saying that it is a way to clear out the registry of outdated registry information...Tax records aren't enough?

Anyway, made it in last night around 9ish. The security really makes you feel at home. Screenings, more screenings, even more screenings. Immigration was a breeze, normally they hassle me a bit more, but this time our conversation revolved around Oktoberfest. As usual, it was nice just talking to random people, which, like I've pointed out a couple of times, is something that I miss from the states. Customs folks were confused as to why I didn't have any baggage asking a couple of times if I was sure I didn't have any baggage? Maybe I forgot it on the conveyor belt?

Any who, now it's time to head into town to Walmart and buy the classy $100 wardrobe. Still have a cache of socks and underwear from last time. Then it's off to an afternoon of slinging brass...and a brisket that's already being prepped for the smoker. Life is tough.

Stay away,,,Mr. Benedict

Drats, let me know a bit earlier next time.

Ah, home...

Gotta love America.

You still may want to look into it while you're here. I read a big article about how despite their billion dollar budget the incompetent idiots at FAA have lost track of something like 100,000 private aircraft registrations. And with so much dysfunction drug runners are taking advantage and stealing plane identities. So they're making every private plane owner re-register regardless of their current registration status.

What's that, like 21 hours of travel all told?

to Walmart and buy the classy $100 wardrobe

$100 buys a whole lotta clothes at WM.

Ah, home...

I see PF on the screen!

Why not? It's been kind to me for years. Walking through those sliding doors and being asked if I need a buggy is like being pressed face first into America's warm bosom. In that warm embrace I find everything that I need, tooth brushes made in Taiwan, socks from Guatemala, jeans from Mexico, a shirt from Bangladesh, underwear from India, and a power adapter made in China... I noticed that quite a few of my fellow internationalists/shoppers were practicing their foreign language skills, who says Americans aren't a worldly, erudite, cultural folk?

Got some milk that was proudly made in the USA too.

Problems with snow, Convex? Heard that the Mid-West is badly affected.

so how is it going in OK?

Landed, drank, slept, woke up, bought clothes, shot milk jugs, drank, ate brisket, drank some more, slept, conference call with the old continent, slept, now I'm cleaning the carbs off an old beat up virago 920...I should be mobile in a couple of hours :) Going flying tomorrow, life is good.

I always like how talkative everyone is. Standing in line, mutual complaining...heh, yesterday I stopped off at a little bait shop/gas station (love that noise that the minnow tanks make), walked back to get a drink and I heard some lady scream out "I'm gonna beat your ass when I get home", turn around and look over at the register and point to myself, the lady was on the phone and shook her head. "You don't hit your brother, you understand?"...ah, parenting across the copper wires. I went up to the counter, and she proceeded to explain to me that her boys liked to throw down while she was at work, there is no way in hell you'd hear an exchange like that back in Poland, and they definitely wouldn't explain it to you. Otherwise, she was nice enough though :)

Ah yea, good times.

I just finished shoveling my driveway so SHUT UP!!

Some people pay for gym memberships, you get that upper body workout for free. Sounds like a win-win. If it makes you feel any better, it's freezing cold here too, we just never get white stuff. For bonus points, the wind has been steady blowing at about 40mph. Yea, an Oklahoma Christmas.

lol Oklahoma? Not warm enough.
I freaked out this morning when the water in the bird bath was frozen solid. First time I saw it in Florida. So I booked an extravagant (in price only) trip to sparsely populated bahamian island. Only to find out later that it's 5 degrees colder there!

see, if I wanted cold weather, I'd be prepared for it. I'd love to go skiing, too... But here, I don't even have central heat in my house! So I bake myself in one room, the one with the tv, puter and an electric heater and come out only when absolutely necessary.

yup, we've traded out for the time being. Honestly, I've lived more of my life in Europe at this point than the states....

lol Oklahoma? Not warm enough.

It's warm enough, trust me. Freezes at night, rolled up my sleeves today while working on the bike. There is a pond just out back that doesn't have the slightest trace of ice on it...

But here, I don't even have central heat in my house!

Heh, sounds like Poland. Dear god woman, I think WroclawBoy mentioned something about -17 earlier. Do you think you could do a Polish winter?

are you talking about Oklahoma's gas prices? just checked online, it's around $2.70, national avg. is still under $3.00.

so dude, $100 of Walmart clothing? what do you plan on doing, wearing the same bad clothing the entire month long trip?

classy, man. you'll need them guns to keep all those women at bay.

I guess Oklahoma marches to the beat of a different drum.

In Southern California, current price is approximately $3.15 per gallon. Next week may be a different amount.

Yea, we're not a bunch of pretentious folks worried about how we dress. I'm quite happy with a pair of jeans that fit, and a shirt. Don't know what you wear up your way, but I hope it makes you feel good about yourselves :) Honestly, if you've got some tips on "good" clothing that will enhance my life, by all means, fill me in.

Aviation gas

Exactly :)

Car gas prices are cheap as dirt, but I'll be on the bike the entire time anyway, so it doesn't really matter if it's $2 or $5...

this has nothing to do with pretentiousness, it's the fact that you have A pair of jeans and A shirt for an entire month.

fashion aside, that's just gross.

it's a bit strange coming from a guy who claims to own apartments and such all over Europe, airplanes, has his own company.....you'll always be a mystery to me, convex.

faded glory jeans run $11 a pop. Shirts run about the same. Two pairs of jeans, plus what I was wearing at the time, three shirts, plus a big t-shirt order from woot and $6 shirts (bless those folks). You do know how cheap clothes are at Walmart right?

I only own land, not dumb enough to buy real estate. Do own planes, and have a couple of companies. I don't spend money on stuff I don't need.

some need airplanes, some need decent looking clothing that won't fall apart after 3 washes. fair enough.

Indeed, some need airplanes. My Walmart clothes have held up in the harsh climes of Poland...I'm also a big fan of Manzoni suits and have a box full of neato cufflinks, but not for going out. I'm not trying to impress anyone here...hell, or in Poland for that matter.

I am, lived in Austin, New Orleans, San Diego, and South Carolina.

Bed time, g'night.
