Why would I want to get US passport? If I really wanted to move, have more money and so on I have EU- I can travel to whatever country I want without visa or even a passport. Lower crime rate, less gun nuts, closer to home...Who the hell chooses USA now? It's just not worth it imo.

I'm from Poland and EU always wins with USA when I think about place to live

I take it as an opinion of an expert, who lived in the US long enough to know, what she's talking about ;-)

Yes, as a Polish person considering moving to another country I'm definitely more of an expert than you- an American male (just remember the topic is about 1- Polish ppl, 2- Polish women- I guess you are neither)

Also- I know where my friends are going. Two ppl I know went to USA, rest chosen EU.

excuse me? now that is very interesting. What are you trying to insinuate, Lenka?

btw. to make a statement like you did, you actually have to know both worlds (first hand) to be able to compare, otherwise, it's nothing else but an assumption.

I will remind you the words you quoted:

I'm from Poland and EU always wins with USA when I think about place to live.

I'm Polish and when I consider moving out of Poland EU always wins- so yes, I think I'm an expert on my own thoughts and feelings. If you have better knowledge on that subject than me please let me know.

well, how about that, I lived9 years in Germany and 4 years in Poland (visited many other European countries too). Don't you think, I know more about both worlds than you? (honest answer, no bull)

About what, where Polish ppl prefer to move or my thoughts and feelings? I know where my friends are moving and yes, most don't even think about applying for USA visa, they just go to some European country.

See Iwona post- she is thinking the same way, Polish ppl usualy prefer Europe now.

Look, let's be honest, you guys prefer going to the UK and such because it's not easy for you to obtain visa to the US. I personally believe, you should be able to visit us anytime you feel like it. It's just a stupid regulation that needs to be changed ASAP. I mean, all of your neighbors can come and go as they wish, why not you.

Hmm, I never even thought about applying for visa, never took part in Green Card lottery, nothing like that and my friends didn't either. You are right that all these regulations put ppl off but not as many as you'd think imo

1.)The current population of PolishAmericans is about 10,000,000 of whom approximately 500,000 were born in Poland
Compare it to:
The 2001 UK Census recorded 60,711 Polish-born people resident in the UK.[31] 60,680 of these were resident in Great Britain (the UK minus Northern Ireland), compared to 73,951 in 1991.[32] With the migration that has followed Poland's accession to the EU, the Polish-born population in the whole of the UK is estimated to have risen to 515,000 in the year to March 2010.[22] Unofficial estimates have put the number of Poles living in the UK higher, at up to one million

And this is only UK. So even if the emigration to US doubled it would still be less popular than the EU.

It's just a stupid regulation that needs to be changed ASAP.

US government may do as they wishes however in my opinion it should be equal- visa for visa. If we can't travel there without visa we should start visas for Americans as well.

Lenka, do you think that perhaps this has anything to do with the fact that Poles can emigrate to the UK without restriction while securing a green card is an arduous process? If all visa and work restrictions were lifted in the USA, do you think the statistics you cited would remain as-is?

In any case, both sides of this argument are too simplistic. Poland, like any country emerging from the iron curtain has over the last 20+ years begun to develop a middle class, replete with educated women who have no use for screwing over some American schlub. On the other hand, there are still a great many people in Poland who earn meager wages and have no hope of a middle class life while within the confines of their native country. At least some subset of these people are women who no doubt use their charms to trick older guys into marrying them and later screw them over. This isn't a problem that's specific to Poland. The recent scandal involving Donald Sterling and the LA clippers illustrates that this can happen anywhere (ie. old dude with money who has a romantic interest with a woman 1/3 his age who eventually screws him over).

I'm Polish and when I consider moving out of Poland EU always wins- so yes, I think I'm an expert on my own thoughts and feelings.

So, we've established that your opinion is such that the EU wins. This is hardly representative of anything other than your personal opinion, no?
