Pesky, szarlotka??

I think we all need to get back on track. Penn, I know that many go across from the likes of Zakopane to roll the dice and see what's what. I must admit, getting a property in Zakopane through hard work done in the US is sensible. Have you been to Zakopane, Penn? Truly beautiful!

The Japanese

What have the Japs or lend lease got to do with the question posed?

I would say the Royal navy of the day was a match for the US navy and added to it the German navy as well even more so.

the funny thing about arguments such as these is that if so called citizens were from tim buk two, tim buk two would be the best country on the planet.

The Japanese after building up for war couldn't even take on America's Pacific fleet alone in an all out battle let alone the entire US Navy. The British would have been a goner without the lend lease program.

it is indeed a sad day when a so called (what ever) citizen totally turns his back on his country in allegiance for another. You'll be back.......

Bases in the British empire? Canada for the north of the USA or the Caribbean islands.

England America wouldnt be America

Wroclaw the colonies weren't built for America they were built for England, nothing is owed. Besides in 1776 this was still a wild country what had A LOT of needed development.

Harry Britain and Germany could never mobilize as many troops as America, or build so much equipment. You'd get drowned in a sea of men and equipment. Even Stalin admitted the war would have taken another year to beat Germany if it wasn't for Americas help. America armed itself to the teeth and helped the UK and Soviet Union at the same time.

WB; Why dont you stop and think about what you say before you make an A$$ out of yourself.. Now if I recall it was you that stated that you returned to Britain only to find that you did not like what you saw and returned to Poland.. Read your statement above. Sometime I question your intellegence

Now if I recall it was you that stated that you returned to Britain only to find that you did not like what you saw and returned to Poland.

It suited my personal circumstances at the time, its not like im going to swear allegiance or sign up for the army or anything like that. You will NEVER hear me talking in any way similar to you with regard to one country being superior over another, period. It is especially p1ss poor when one is from a different country but thats what America does doesn't it? Rule number 1, dont forget where you came from.....but more importantly dont be ashamed.

Sometime I question your intellegence

Question away i will fcuking own you in any debate, discussion or whatever.

As i said you'll be back when it suits, and that goes for all you fcuking Polams.

America armed itself to the teeth and helped the UK and Soviet Union at the same time.

But essentially helped itself don't ever forget that.

WB Nuneczka is American born and WWII vet, a little respect. As for me I'm Polish but since I've been here since I was a child and acquired a citizenship I feel both Polish and American. No one thinks America is superior we were talking about WWII and someone said UK and Germany could have beat us, I just stated you wouldn't have a chance, It's the truth.

Every country in the world has its pros and cons. As a close neighbour of America and also having lived and extensively traveled in that country I can offer these observations.

Good
1.Americans are the friendliest people you can imagine. I've sat alone in restaurants and had people drop over to talk to me at my table or invite me over to theirs. Not just once or twice, consistently, and throughout the country, from the ranchlands of Montana to small town North Carolina to the industrial outback of Wisconsin. You would not see that in Canada.

2. Meritocracy. There is reward for hard work and innovation and the reward is larger in America than anywhere else. The best and the brightest end up there, not only because of financial incentives, but because they are welcomed there. Americans don't resent achievement, they applaud and admire it.

3. Generosity: I can't say anything better than how a fellow Canadian said it many years ago. It's a little dated, but true nevertheless. Read it here: truthorfiction.com/rumors/g/gordonsinclair.htm

4. Many countries, but particularly Canada, have had a better, more secure life because America stood eyeball to eyeball with the USSR and the Russians blinked first. I knew life under Soviet communism was grim but I just read the book Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin and I have a much better appreciation for the horrifying hell on earth visited upon the Poles, Ukrainians, Belorussians and people in the Balkan states. Fourteen million people dead, the vast majority from a deliberate policy of murder. I am humbled by the courage and resilience of the people of Central Europe.

Detrimental to America's international standing (in other words, why Americans **** people off)
Failure to recognize there is a world outside the US borders and it's a big, important world at that. American parochialism is legendary. It frustrates the hell out of people when they meet an American and feel dismissed as unimportant against that swaggering arrogance and superiority complex. It's called the Ugly American Syndrome and I know many Americans hurt and bewildered by the hostility they encounter from other nationalities. Unfortunately, too many Americans over too many years have earned that reputation on behalf of their own citizens. It will take a considerable amount of time to undue that damage.

delphiandomine: Doesn't look so bad to me...

Detroit was the motor city, a capital of capitalism with a population of 5m+. The neglect of Stalowa Wola is not even in the same league compared to Detroit. Considering you have only experienced the recession for 3 years now some parts of the city look like 20 years after its nuclear demise after WWIII where no one lifted a finger to rebuild it. Where’s that prosperity you speak of? Other parts of US don’t fair much better.

I am soooo tempted to find some random photo of Detroit depicting it as a nice place, like some wealthy person's back yard garden or something.....

4. Many countries, but particularly Canada, have had a better, more secure life because America stood eyeball to eyeball with the USSR and the Russians blinked first.

Very few people, aside from Americans, understand this or refuse to admit it. Nice one, adersm.

Yes. He said it on the forum before. He said he was stationed in England before the Normandy invasion, he talked about people leaving for the suburbs in the 50s and 60s remember?

What Nukes?

The nukes designed by German scientists that were granted amnesty in the States. You know the ones that were dropped on Japan, German scientists designed them mate.

Conventionally u'd be defeated

Nahh, even without the nukes it would have been a war of attrition for decades as both sides built up forces and more importantly the means to deploy them thousands of miles away. The Royal Navy at that time was comparable to the US Navy so that was a good starting block, add a few German U Boats and some of their battleships and we'd have ruled the oceans in no time. Germany and the UK had technology for the Jet engine fighter, the US's most effective fighter had an English Rolls Royce engine - which would have obviously been none existent, so come on dude what really could the US have brought to the table in that war? US Sherman tanks - pieces of crap.

It would have been a turkey shoot, easy pickings for Europe.

But we had the nukes sooooo. In any case you were yet to be born so you'd have been born Polish.

The best defense they ever had was the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean.

But seriously what did the US have in 1944 that could have won a true World War?

Nothing. They even used much of the German rocket technology after WW2. And it's no surprise that there was never intensive denazification - they got too much from Nazi scientists!

Oppenheimer was an American Jew if I remember correctly. Even if Germany knew how you need the uranium and facilities to make it which they did not have otherwise the war would have been different.

The Royal Navy at that time was comparable to the US Navy so that was a good starting block

'By 1943, the US Navy's size was larger than the combined fleets of all the other combatant nations in World War II.[3] By war's end in 1945, the United States Navy had added hundreds of new ships, including 18 aircraft carriers and 8 battleships, and had over 70% of the world's total numbers and total tonnage of naval vessels of 1,000 tons or greater.' So I don't think so.

US Sherman tanks - pieces of crap

The M26 Pershing was a very good tank but because bureaucracy and production already underway with the Shermans it was thought to just overwhelm the enemy with sheer numbers, as we did. BTW the outstanding suspension on the T34 was a American design copied by the Soviets.

Oppenheimer was an American Jew if I remember correctly. Even if Germany knew how you need the uranium and facilities to make it which they did not have otherwise the war would have been different.

At the urging of British scientists who had made crucial calculations indicating that a fission weapon could be completed within only a few years,

the project brought together the top scientific minds of the day, including many exiles from Europe

America wouldnt have stood a chance in making the first nuke without British and German minds. Kind of like antibiotics.

Time scales dude - time scales, yes so weve established that America was an industrial powerhouse, but what good are pistols against machine guns?

BTW the outstanding suspension on the T34 was a American design copied by the Soviets.

Was it designed by native Indians then?

You should be more focused on Poland mate, thats your country, thats where you were born. You cant just be somebody else.....

AWW shidt, you guys are killing me.. YUP this old fart is 86 yrs old..

At least that explains the "you'd all be wearing striped pyjamas" quote, even if he did actually forget thats what the Jews in prison camps wore.

lets not forget about Vietnam.

What do you think Iraq was, just a week ago they left in the middle of the night like Russians from Afghanistan, the difference lest Russian troops out of Afghanistan left in the day light hours.
