Hi everone,

Long time reader first time poster here!

I recently married my wife in the UK I am a British citizen and she is Polish.

Could anyone give advice on how we can change her surname on her polish passport, or apply for a anglo/polski passport if such a thing exists? she has lived here for over 7 years and we own a house together so have no intention of leaving the UK.

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Thanks in advance

File for a new Polish passport with documents stating her new surname.

anglo/polski passport if such a thing exists

I don't think the UK and Poland united as one country yet, so that would be no.

If there was matter of simple passport renewal you cant try your luck, but with changes like a new surname, documents need to be verified.

I dont believe there is for Polish passports or ID cards, for a pesel you have to visit the local gmina where you are based, and thats all there is to it.

Of course but you simple post them via secure delivery.

I applied for a new passport for my daughter in Poland but from the UK passporst processeing centre in Dusseldorf, Germany all via post.

If you want to avoid the dreaded cues at the Polish Embassy why not just get her a British passport? sounds like shes more than entitled. Also if youre planning on travelling around the EU she doesnt need a passport, a Polish ID card is enough.

Merged: Registering a UK marriage in order to change name on passport

Please could anyone advise, my wife from Poland is due a new passport and we'd like to change her surname after marrying in the UK last year. I understand we need to visit the Polish embassy in London in order to get the marriage recognised. Would anyone know if its the legal section we need to book an appointment with? I have a rough idea of the documents and photos we need to present and have gathered copies although I think we may need to leave the originals. Can the translations be done as part of the meeting? Thanks in advance David

She's got to get down here, mate. You are less than 3 hours away by plane.
Forget the embassy. When she gets down here, it will be done quicker than the embassy.
She has to be prepared to spend about a month waiting for the I.D, first.
I know it sucks but that is probably the fastest way, if the process hasn't been speeded up, yet.
She can apply for the I.D to be changed first and then travel back to UK using her passport.
One of her relatives can pick up her I.D when it's out and then she can apply for a new passport.
That's probably the best way to beat the bureaucracy.

New Polish passport after name change

Hello. My Polish wife and I are planning a trip to the United States. We recently got married and she's changed her surname. How does she change the name in her passport? We don't live in Poland so can she do this at the embassy or does she need to return home?

I assume that she will need to apply for a new US visa for the new passport. Has anyone done this before? Does she need to apply again or can she just get a new vignette?

Thanks.
