What he means is that those coming here regardless of where they are from should have funds to support themselves before they find work and not expect to be kept by the state in any way shape or form.

it is also my understanding hence asylum seekers, although Mr H seems to see more ....:)

My expectation is for a system that is fair and for a system that works and puts British people first.

I don't see that as a "great" expectation as such, more of just a reasonable one.

I see nothing wrong your expectation and I don't find them unreasonable.
Although I don't see what workable system has to do with "putting British people first"(we could have a little discussion if you wish to elaborate what do you mean by above expression.

I simply in words of the politician you quoted failed to see the promise you were talking about and Amethyst didn't see it either.

I don't put much faith in politicians and tend to see thing as they really are .....
