£27,000 a year

So anyone earning less than this is a burden?
Indluding you.

edit: Oh look - it's the daily hate mail. You can't wipe your arse with the internet version, but it usually already looks like it has been used for this purpose.

Can't you see any balance between duration of tax payments and duration of access to the what the tax pays for.

They haven't been paying tax here all their lives, but neither have they been reaping the benefits all their lives.

very interesting comments to this article

There are more positive than negative comments about Poles on there. The negative comments seemed to focus more on the Britsh governament than on the actual Polish migrant workers themselves, unlike a certain troll we find round here.

If you criticise the government that makes the decisions, then you don't look nearly as stupid as someone who picks on a group by their nationality, religion, skin-colour and so on. Such hatred for people on such a flimsy basis only leads me to suspect noimmigration is not just polonophobic, not just xenophobic, not just racist, but also anti-human.

Noimmigration: have some respect for Homo sapiens sapiens. It was humankind that provided you and your kind with a pond within which to constitute the lower forms of life.

a more objective perspective, seeing both sides as contributing to the problem. Just like any conflict, e.g Protestants and Catholics near the Shankhill Road 30 years ago
BubbaWoo 33 | 3,506

a more objective perspective

that unfortunately reaches a similar conclusion to nis post

During the period there were 22,793 crimes in the capital for which a foreign national was charged. The highest number of offences - 2,310 - being carried out by Poles.

This is also the conclusion of a more right-wing paper, The Telegraph,
telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/09/23/ncrime123.xml

news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/5080924.stm
this does show the strain that Poles place on our NHS, increasing stress for GP's. It's just caused by sheer numbers. It can't be helped. I can imagine language being a barrier when talking about Medical English. I can see how bad feeling could come about from short term money hoarding and transferring home but Britain does allow Poles to work, that's at their discretion. I do believe that this careerism notion stems from selfishness and ego, oh, this is my career. Poles at least show that they can do odd jobs and not follow a robotic path at home.

Sorry Bubba Woo, the focus of that article wasn't centered on Poles but u r right. Time to get realistic and admit that Poles do commit a fairly high %age of crimes. This is only the statistical perspective tho. The social factor sometimes brings that about. Earning such little money leads to frustration. Hatred breeds hatred too.

Why not? If u can afford the fare and the costs of uprooting then it's a good idea. Canada and NZ seem to be 2 popular destinations amongst Brits. Sorry for the lack of economic depth, but Britain has gone tits up. I'm happy enough here in Poland

The BBC link features a French poster looking to attract Polish immmigration.
The link is for BBC South of England, 500 miles away in the north, the Scottish Government is doing all it can to attract Polish immigration.

Just to highlight that there are differences in attitude within the EU and within the UK.

Hats off to the Poles for being able to wangle the system. They are a cunning bunch. It just goes to show that the British govt is becoming more lax, torn between socialist and capitalist agendas and finding virtually no balance whatsoever. The British govt were complicit here.
