CAN MY CHILD GET UK PASSPORT? No authorisation from father.

My daughter has been living in uk with me for four years and going to school here for that time. Can she apply for a uk passport, because her father will not give authorisation for a new polish passport. Her polish passport expired last year and my daughter is without any id. She cannot travel anywhere now. I heard that it may be possible for her to apply for uk passport after going to school here for five years. Does anyone know if this is true? And if so, how do i go about it? Many thanks.

In any case. Her father must approve the passport.

Everything you need to know is here: homeoffice.gov.uk/passports-and-immigration/

not true, one parent / guardian is enough.

As far as I know, it is now only possible to naturalise as a British citizen if one is at least 18 years old. However, given that your child has lived in the UK for four years (the standard requirement for naturalisation is five year), you might want to consider applying to the UK Border Agency for British citizenship for your child on the basis that it is in the best interests of the child to be given British citizenship. Given that her father is behaving in a way which is clearly unreasonable and which harms the interests of the child, and nothing can be done to stop him acting that way or to prevent his actions from harming your daughter's interests, you would have a least a reasonable case for applying on the grounds that it is in the child's best interests to be given British citizenship.

Here's the UK Border Agency page on "Other cases where it is considered to be in the child's best interests to be granted British citizenship":

Providing this form to Magistrates' Court or County Court in location nearest the place of child birth, may be a solution.

We had simmilar situation.Polish embassy can issue emergency passport for one year with written reason. She may write that she doesn't have contact with biological father.

Further more she have to put some case in Poland for getting right for permanent passport.

Are you actually suggesting he rings/visits or even writes to the passport office to get the necessary information?
What seems pretty obvious to some people is not perhaps so obvious to others.......
