Funny coming from a person of a murdering, looting genocidal country...

i beg your pardon?

please, spare us from NATO, EU, Islamic league propaganda.

Please don't blame it all on britain.

you are right. Generalization is always mistake. Just, on the first sight, this title `Britain's youngest mum gave birth at 12` refers more on some African country then it remind of Europe

Anyway, it may be just me, but I don't think that 12-year old children should have sex.

Hey, me neither, but I guess I could try to explain a few things to you. Not to justify anything, but just to let you know about the social climate and all the problems most people aren't experiencing at a young age.

What's wrong with doing normal child's stuff when you're at that age?

Nothing, but some kids pretty much have the mindstate of a young adult at that age already, trust me. I mean, you grow up a little faster when daddy's doing drugs all day, mom prostitutes herself, or when your parents kick you out. In these sort of towns, life is miserable for almost everyone. There's usually a lot of frustration, depression, agression and a lot of people with psychological problems. See if you can remain childish and innocent in such an environment.

I mean, friends of ppl I know gave their 12-year old son condoms to take with him to a children's party. I really don't think that's normal...

It's not exactly normal, no. But some of these children have **** all to do and all they've seen is misery and negativity. They will do it anyway, so maybe their parents think it's better to be safe than sorry. They could probably ground their kids for like eight years, but maybe that's not too healthy either?

Unfortunately it's always the same type of ppl to whom this happens. I read a study the other day in the newspaper that said that about 50 per cent of the kids younger than 16 had sex before they even properly had kissed and that it was noticable that this was by far more often the case in lower social classes than with other classes.

Yes, because of all the problems, and most of these kids are traumatized.

And then you see a picture of the mom - somehow they all look the same: fat, kinda ugly girls with flat, greasy hair, face full of pickles; apparently somehow stalled for attention (at that age?) and giving themselves to any guy who blinks as much as an eye at them. I am not moralistic, but I think here lies a task for the parents as I hold them responsible for this skewed behaviour.

I don't think it's a complete mystery that some parents don't give a ****, which you can't blame on these kids.

;)

And besides all that: who's gonna take care of the baby? The mother obviously can't as she's a kid herself and has no clue yet about responsibility - this baby is going to grow up as yet another no-future and if it's a baby girl, probably get pregnant too before she reaches the tender age of 14.

I don't know if they can't. Some girls might pull it off. I think most of them will get by with help from social workers and their own family, if abortion isn't an option for those people who are involved. It will be miserable though. So yes, I agree, twelve year olds should play outside and worry about their grades. I'm not going to seperate a mother from her child if she says she wants to take care of it though. It's her child, after all.

But realistically speaking, most girls aren't having a baby at the age of twelve, so I agree with Kate Louise there, it looks good on those tabloids, and unfortunately it sells. I mean, everytime you publicize an article like that, it's going to be another bad example for another girl who's too young to raise a family. (Has anyone ever thought about that?)

Please! What a load of crap and a very large stupid stereotype that everyone that comes from a social housing estate is a chav and pregnant at 14!

"Social housing" ? It's still a council estate, love, regardless of what you change the name too.

The phrase that springs to mind is a popular one up North I believe and that's "you can't polish a turd!"

Not all teens on the council estates are single-mums but most teen single-mums are from the council estates. They drag up brats that will just be the next generation of teenage parents.

Yes of course. It's completely normal. Happens all the time, every day of the week.

That's why it was regarded as a newsworthy story you see - because it's simply sooooo commonplace.

(sarcasm alert)
