Skiing Near Wrocław?

Does anyone have any advice on places to ski near Wrocław? I've heard that places on the border with Cz. Rep. are quite good and accessible, is this true? I'm in Poznan and have a car, so a weekend skiing somewhere south of Wrocław would make sense.

Spindleruv Mlyn in the Czech republic is without doubt the best in the area.

South of Wroclaw and still within Polands borders you have Zieleniec and Czarna Gora. Both the Polish ones are about 1200 meters at the highest lift point and they are quite similar in quality, the Czech republic resort has lifts at 1500 meters above sea level.

The largest Polish resort in the area is Karpacz (its the Polish side of the mountain to Spindle), ive heard bad stories about the lift cues and have only been there in the summer so cant comment on the ski/snowboard aspect.

Wow, thanks for your help. Zieleniec looks rather good, and google maps says it's only four hours from Poznań so I think we'll give that a go. I'll let you know how it went.

Although they have a snow chain sign at the start of the road to Zieleniec from the E67, you most certainly do not need to have them. The sign is to let drivers know that if you have snow chains and need them, you can fit them to your vehicle. Snow chains mash roads, and you are not allowed them on a road such as the E67.

depending on the weather and the amount of snow you could go as late as the second half of March

all depends on the weather, ive seen the resort still open in May, they usually start winding down in late April. Virtually all the slopes in Zieleniec are North facing so they don't see much sun which means they can maintain the snow for quite a while.

Not so much a snowy winter but a long one, with temps staying low and late snow falls right up into the early summer months.

It was 2006.

Euro car parts is generally the cheapest place for car spares in the UK.

Youre not going to need them if you have winter tyres and you are going to need winter tyres if your driving through Germany. Well i say need them, its actually a legal requirement for Germany, but not Poland.
