Starbucks in Poland?

would it make a difference if they did not....god forbid that you would have to purchase coffee from a non franchised chain

Why do you assume that was the context in which that question was asked? There wasn't any additional information included and yet you were negative from the out. Maybe - they agree with you. Maybe - they were asking to find out what franchises are infesting your country and desire to help. Your really nasty attitudes make it hard to want to do that though.

Well, one would ask if there were any cafes, not a specific chain that is globalised beyond belief.

And some of starbucks practices, ie not getting permits and setting up shop are highly questionable.

I have not seen Starbucks here in Warsaw as of yet. Coffee Heaven is the reigning franchise, though I can safely say that they will get wiped out if Starbucks enters the market with even a shred of quality and service.

No starbucks yet. I am big fan of starbucks other then prices. Warsaw in a year or so is the estimate

PS: You can head to Berlin for the closest. And coffee heaven is an ok substitute, but still not the starbucks "buzz"

anyone who thinks that Starbucks makes good coffee, needs a tastebud and brain transplant

Starbucks: the coffee chain for people who don't know what real coffee tastes like. lol :)

Mind you, most coffee shops I've been to in Poland aren't very good, taste-wise. There's several places I go to regularly, but I always know I can get better coffee at home. One of my favourite places in Warszawa, for example, is the Nescafe Cafe on Nowy Swiat, but the coffee is as bad as the name (lol). However, I really like their back room/conservatory because it has nice comfy seats. hehe. :)

If interested here is an article from March saying Starbucks is coming to P-land.

seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/309667_polandstarbucks30.html

cbw.cz/phprs/2007040229.html

As a person who has been traveling a lot this last year and mini rebelled against the chain back home, I have found SB to be a safe haven on the road. Is the one place I can go to get a internet connection (paid) and a little taste of home and relax in a comfy chair. Yes compared to local brands way over priced but you know what you are getting.

I'm traveling in the South of Poland in two weeks so good to know I will just have to find a little local cafe` and relax.... probably not a problem I'm guessing.

Above are two good articles. Looks like 2008 for Starbucks but also of important note is the first Burger King is coming too...

Not sure that will help - because fast food takes a hold of people slowly and before they know it - they're eating it regularly. Often not realising how much fat and calories they contain. Unfortunately, countries with fast food chains all go this way eventually - just look at USA and others. Poland would be better off without these money hungry commercial enterprises.

if u are worried about the weight just do a few weeks in Jordan or Egypt... I lost 5lbs off my 150lb frame in that time and 2 inch on my waste. Then eating crapdollands in Asia last month (because I was in a rush between jobs) put it all back on and not in a flattering way... guessing Polish food will keep the same... lots of meet and potatoes.

article said all the company brands like BK, SB, Pizza Hut are all owned by the same company so once you see one the other is not far behind.

Best coffe come from Europe. After all these years I still buy German Gala Coffee, roasted exactly the way it was meant to be. Austrian and Polish roasts ar good too. After all, it all really took off after the Siege of Vienna when Poles got hold of large quantities of Turkish coffee.

As for Starbucks, they sell some kind of stuff in various flavors, and they add coffee to it :)

thats cos they have lots of money to expand all over the world by overcharging for their products. Imo they are the devils spawn and are a threat to the real coffee shops, i.e. local ones. If there are no Starbucks in Poland, you should be happy.

Yes i can believe that. Just shows you their customers don't have good taste and don't know what real coffee tastes like !

And also is a good lesson in demonstrating how expensive & clever marketing and advertising can brainwash the masses into believeing the stuff Starbucks serves up is 'good , tasty coffee' <vbg>

If there are no Starbucks in Poland, you should be happy.

Hear, hear sapphire, nice one :)

As for Starbucks

Less said the better , I think !

eave LIR alone.

My hero G.........<s> thank you :)

ou know what they say about ladies that dress in red

No, but I know what they say about men who do not know what a real cup of coffee is ! I cannot repeat it on here........hahahaha !!!
