Close. The problem is he didn`t even start and she expects some action at last.

it's about sex or power.?

Yes, one of these. Which exactly?

Hint - the black-clad male used to be the Polish king.
Hint 2 - the painting was made by a famous Polish artist.

Meanwhile....

who is this female?

jon357 72 | 21,114

It's obviously Matejko.

The black-clad figure? Wasn't there a Polish king called 'The Black"? Leszek the Black?
OP pawian 204 | 21,100
5 Jan 2023 #1,480
Leszek the Black?

Yes! And what was his personal tragedy exactly???

5 Jan 2023 #1,481
Not sure... Didn't he have a bad marriage?

I suspect I know who the lady in the B&W photo is but I'll let someone else guess. Clue: an icy lady...

Didn't he have a bad marriage?

Yes, you are getting closer..... closer......
warmer.. warmer....

Why was the marriage bad exactly???

Clue: an icy lady..

You never cease to impress me with your astounding knowledge of Polish culture as well as the language. :):):)

who is this female?

Loda Halama

The problem is he didn`t even start and she expects some action at last.

He was impotent.

Of course he's impotent... he's a king! They're not gonna have some nobody be king!
OP pawian 204 | 21,100
6 Jan 2023 #1,485
Loda Halama

Yes.
And yes, Leszek the Black was afflicted with impotence. His wife is shown in the painting taking off her marital cap and going to put on her virgin maiden wreath again. She did it in public after six years of marriage. Poor guy. And what a bad woman she was. :):):)

If you are so good at guessing, can you also go back to post 1425 and explain fully what they are doing and why coz our professional guesser alien or johhny didn`t do it.
jon357 72 | 21,114
7 Jan 2023 #1,486
coz our professional guesser alien or johhny didn`t do it.

Nor me; is it a tradition, maybe a good luck thing or a mild insult?
OP pawian 204 | 21,100
7 Jan 2023 #1,487
None. Why don`t you take advantage of Alien`s answer in 1425. He was close but didn`t elaborate when I asked so I don`t know if he guessed but refused to share it with us or he was on the right track by pure accident.

Read his post and explain the situation to the full.

Meanwhile:

What is this cultural thing?

Are they checking the wind direction? I know that happens with free kicks.

The photo reminds me of a (probably real) Kossak painting that some friends have.

Yes, it is also true. But you are speaking of visual arts while I mean sth out of sight. :):):)

Are they checking the wind direction?

:):) Sorry. no.

Getting back to alien:

With the left hand they cover.... something else.

Why????
jon357 72 | 21,114
7 Jan 2023 #1,490
Don't they protect parts of their body? Anything except arms, legs and head, so perhaps their interesting bits too?

Since they get a yellow card if the ball hits them other than on their legs or head since they can't block a free kick.

There's also that thing about lying down during free kicks, for a similar reason.
Alien 13 | 3,022
7 Jan 2023 #1,491
Why?

It's clear, they don't want to get a shot in their balls.
OP pawian 204 | 21,100
7 Jan 2023 #1,492
Don't they protect parts of their body?

Yes! Genitals and noses! At last!

Uhlan photo is pending while meanwhile.....:

Alien 13 | 3,022
7 Jan 2023 #1,494
Yes, it is Dziwnówek
OP pawian 204 | 21,100
7 Jan 2023 #1,495
It's clear, they don't want to get a shot in their balls.

Why were you delaying so long???

Dziwnowek?

Yes, a miniature seaside resort, next to a bigger one called Dziwnów.

Loda Halama

I forgot to add that she was a top dancing and acting star in pre-war Poland.

What about this???

OP pawian 204 | 21,100
7 Jan 2023 #1,497
in.... Dziwnowek?

Maf and Alien I hope you didn`t look at the town name stamp in the photo, that would be unfair. :):):)
