ARE POLISH NIGHTCLUBS UNSAFE?

Do you guys think Polish nightclubs are unsafe? After the stairs in my favourite Kitsch collapsed Im starting to wonder about the health and safety standards in pubs and nightclubs....let's face it when we're drunk we don't notice these things and how often do you go to nightclubs completely sober...

Just like anywhere else in the world, some are some are not.

If you are really concerned ask a local building inspector.

The pubs I had visited in Poland were very modern. I wouldn't have entered a building, looking as though it lacked required safety standards.

If you have ever been to a club called SPATIF in Sopot you would witness total chaos. If there was a fire there, no-one would ever get out. THe fire exits are all blocked and there are so many ppl its unbelieveable. Fire regualtions don't exist in Poland and if they do, they are not enforced

What fire exits? Since when has Spatif had a fire exit?

There is one in the back room, where the big round table is. Cant u agree Harry that SPATIF is a deathtrap?

Oh, they are enforced. The problem is that the regulations can be ignored if the firemaster just so happens to be friends with the owner.

An interesting case study for you - examine why hostels aren't bound by hotel fire regulations ;)

Which means they are not properly enforced. some of the practises here would never be allowed in the UK, I'm talking heaklth and safety, manual handling and food hygiene practises

There certainly wasn't one there when I used to go to the place twice a week, but that was back in 1996.


Deathtrap is a bit strong. Those stairs aren't exactly safe but I would quite fancy my chances of surviving a jump out of the window at Spatif. I wouldn't fancy my chance of doing it without any injury at all but I have seen that done.

I was really concerned at the state of the stairs on that night club a few months before they collapsed. The fact is H&S is not taken seriously, an article in Krakow Post quoted a owner as saying a lot of the basement clubs are death traps in a fire - I'd tend to agree.

It was safe becuase we were inspected... typical. I'm not a structural engineer but ancient stone steps in a domestic house with no steel support will eventually break with heavy use.

Thats why the place was not suitable to be used as a night club.

I was in Kitsch in June 2011, No crowd control old cracked staircases, no visible fire exits and not designed for a Night Club I'm surprised this hasn't happened before and nobody has died in that deathtrap.
