Foreigner in Gliwice to study - is it safe?

Hello people,

It is possible that I go to Gliwice to work arround October to stay at least for some months but I hope it would last longer.

I am from Portugal, I dont speak any polish yet, but I met some Polish people before (when I studied in Germany) so I love Poland and the Polish people.

I would like to know what do you honestly think about some topics:

Is Gliwice a safe place for foreigners?

There are more foreigners there? Are people from other countries wellcome?

What about party? Nice Discos/Bars to go?

What to do and nice places to go when I were there??

If there are somebody from Gliwice, please let me know.

Thank you very much.

Gliwice isn't far from Katowice where you could go by train for some 2 eur (one way, 40 min). Gliwice would be perfectly save yet don't expect many foreigners living there - it has population of some 200 000. Nearby Katowice would have much more to offer in terms of number of foreigners, parties and things to do.

All places in Poland are safe as long as you mind your own business. Its only when people start going overboard in their activities that they attract others. Not only Poland but in every country there are exceptions. by exceptions I mean people who are not quite comfortable with foreigners. I would say be in your limits wherever you go and have some local friends. That should be okay. cheers !!

Gliwice is safe but very provincial. There are some pleasant bars there, but it isn't exactly a party city.
