Is my water bill too high?

I moved in a 3 bedroom apartment in October 2022 to date and my landlord sent us a water bill dating from July 2022 to December 2022 and the total is 1000pln and he wants us to pay adding to a rental bill on which we we're told that bills are included. Is this a normal fee or we are being cheated

Obviously whatever happened before October is nothing to do with you.

Cost per sqm is about 1.50 a month so in a big flat then yes it could be 150 a month.

But if he told you it's without bills and you have a contact there is not much he can do

Our contract states that when we pay our rent the bills are included but if there's over use we pay the surplus. but the landlord is saying they can not get a statement for the month's we've been living only , so the water bill is including July-August and December and yet we are only supposed to pay the surplus but we are being sent the whole bill.

Is there any way for us to calculate this?
Thanks!

You would have to ask the landlord what is the ammount included and what is over.
As to that bill I would divide it in 2 and pay only that. What happened before has nothing to do with you.

If he can't give you a bill for oct - December then just tell him you will ignore the whole bill

It's just as logical that you pay zero as paying all of it

He is not going to kick you out over a few hundred zloty and the law is on your side

but we are being sent the whole bill.

Didn`t you take down the water, gas, energy meter readings upon moving in? That`s the first thing I do after signing a contract with a new tenant.

If you didn`t, now you have a problem. Sending you the whole bill looks suspicious.

the law is on your side

It still depends on what the contract says. And - was the property let to other tenants in July August September period??

@pawian
Yes we do have pictures only for water and electricity, how can we use this to help us understand more. The landlord states no body was leaving there.

Yes we do have pictures only for water and electricity,

Now you need to do a simple calculation - how much water you have used since you moved in and pay for your share only.

The landlord states no body was leaving there.

This means you should pay the whole bill covering July-December coz you were the only tenants occupying the property in the period. Simple.

Just pay up and stop whinging.

Why are you so rude to people who only seek advice in the forum and didn`t harm you in any way???
