Polish bus crash in Croatia. Is there a fate?

good Gyratory

Yes, 6 small roundabouts in one large one, and with two sections with two-way traffic. And then there's left-hand traffic. It's every continental European's nightmare.

Yes, 6 small roundabouts in one large one, and with two sections with two-way traffic.

They work really well managing traffic flow on the edge of city centres.Worth mentioning that this is reflected in the very low level of road accidents, especially fatal ones.

Petrolheads do't like it because they have to drive safely and responsibly and can't go "vroom vroom" as much however it's not about them.

And then there's left-hand traffic. It's every continental European's nightmare.

It only takes a couple of weeks to get used to and for a short visit there's no need to drive. Much safer too, given the accident stats in the four European countries that sensibly drive on the left.

Had another wrestle yesterday with Warsaw's most difficult roundabout - Rondo ONZ

6 entrances with 3 lanes and 2 entrances which are only double lane and mean you have to either get organized 500m in advance or switch lanes on the roundabout. Watch out for the large tram line that crosses it too and traffic approaching way too fast from the flyover on JPII.

Getting on to the rondo was never simple and made more difficult by adding cycle lanes which are easy to cross in a small car, very tricky in a large one.

Good news is that once I have navigated that it's a straight road for 200km

Warsaw's most difficult

Do you remember the road junctions around Mordor back in. the day, especially the one by the bottom end of Galeria Mokotow?

Unphased traffic lights so you can imagine what it was like at rush hour. There would sometimes be tailbacks almost as far as Sadyba.

Better now, though really it needs mostly pedestrianising with a big carpark nearby and some roadworks to reduce the need to go through it to get elsewhere.

Mordor

They plan to flatten it and build some apartment buildings.

Probably for the best in some ways. So many of those office buildings went up at a time when growth was more important for Warsaw than good town planning and in any case, work from home plus increasing flat prices make it financially practical.

It was OK to work theer when it was new, then it became quite an unpleasant place to be.
