Whatsapp and general phone questions

Hi

For those who use whatsapp, I have a question. If I have blocked somebody, then they can't contact me via whatsapp, but they still have my number, so they would be able to text message me. So blocking on whatsapp is a bit useless isn't it. I assume there is no way to block somebody from texting or calling you, or is there?

Also, there is one friend who blocked me some time ago on whatsapp. Their picture vanished and if I sent a message I had one tick, so I take it that I was blocked. However after some time their picture reappeared but I don't think I was a contact anymore, because it says the generic 'Hey there, I am using whatsapp' by their name and if I look at their profile. Am I still blocked or did they unblock me? Not sure. I am assuming I'm blocked as there is another person who blocked me by accident and then unblocked me and I could see their picture, when they were last online etc.

It depends on your service provider/contract. Some let you block numbers from contacting you. A friend did this recently because he was being hassled by someone; very close to stalking. Of course the person can always use another phone...

Type your make and model of phone into Google and if it's possible to block from it.
Most Samsung phones will let you block numbers as I had to do this a couple of years ago. I just had to go into settings and select call rejection/auto reject. Not sure if this applies to all makes of phones though.

Worth a try before you go calling your service provider.
Of course as Jon said, there is nothing to stop that person from using another phone to contact you :(

Okay thanks. It seems my phone does not have the ability to block, but I have seen someone else's that does, so yeah it looks like it depends on the phone.

Just on the whatsapp thing. Does anybody here use it? Any idea what it means if somebody blocked you and then later on their picture reappears again? Is that just something that happens anyway?
