Let's talk about cars

This is the reason why I always buy cars that are standing nearby.

I learned my lesson. As a mitigating point, the car has a perfect service record. Plus I like driving so it wasn't all hell. This covid bs really got to me with all these restrictions. Right now more than half of Mcdonald's are through only. Not much fun.

and the Ahole never disclosed it.

A private guy not doing it is one thing but a reputable authorized dealer is another. They knew the car is unsellable because of that damn squeak and that I will be coming from Illinois.

After the current invasion of Ukrainian refugees, the prices of used cars will have increase again, although they were already high. I think it's a time to sell my Latitude in the spring. I wonder how much I will get for it?

Its time to

Go to Ukraine as you should be able to get one cheap from a Russian soldier.
The price of gas has doubled in the last year in Germany.
What is it now, $7.25 per gallon......
I expect it to double again this year so maybe a motorcycle would be a better option.

My Wife was yesterday in Poland. 1.31E/l. In Germany it was about 1.76 E/l.

Which is about $7.25 per gallon as I stated.
A new decent pick-up truck in the U.S.A. is now over 70,000$ EUR.

70000 E for a pick up is a big money. But I have seen lately Renault Talisman Kombi ( Estate) for 51000 E. It is simply too much.

I have a bigger problem than Ukraine. The transmission in my 175,000-mile LS430 is out. Cargo would be laughing his as* off and he would be right.

I should have sold that car a long time ago.

I am afraid your car is dead, finito. That's the reason why I want to sell my 230000km Renault soon although everything still functions in it. A large repair on old cars is just too expensive.

Cheaper than monthly car payments.

Yes and no. Few years ago I have invest 4000E in my old Opel Cabrio. To month later it was next repair in sight at least 3000E. It was too much. I have sold that my car for 2500E.

Two month later

If the fix costs more than the car is worth, yes, if it is just a tranny like in Rich's case, no.

I should have sold that car a long time ago.

The wife smashed up the black Lexus and is getting over 40K for it. She only was driving around 10mph and the hood, bumper, fenders are all smashed up.

Ill take my pickup truck any day:)

I don't think comparing the cost of fixing with the car blue book value is valid. It should be compared to what I have to spend on another car, its depreciation, and the cost of repairing what may be wrong with it if it's used.

The wife smashed up the black Lexus and is getting over 40K for it.

When did this happen? My wife totaled her ES330 exactly the same way - 10 mph plus a tree. Bad combination.

When did this happen?

Just over a week ago.... I try not to drive with her at all, she makes me nervous. Although, she drove in Poland just fine, fit right in......

Actually, they drive better in Poland and slow traffic doesnt hang out in the hammer lane, they all move over.

I try not to drive with her at all, she makes me nervous.

That's almost funny. I habitually don't wear seatbelts. The day my dear wife murdered her ES I was with her as a passenger; I had one too many so she drove.

That day was the only time I put the seatbelts on for the same reason. When the tree won, my glasses were by the rear window. On the bright side, I had a reason to buy another car.

Its not her first rodeo either. She totaled a Hyundai before this one.

I actually seen some dude wearing one of these T-shirts..haha

I kinda want one too....

I could use a reflective license plate cover...

...And instead of getting a new wife, you bought a new car?

Just kidding...

I could use a reflective license plate cover...

You can get a ticket for that but I see them all over the place...

you bought a new car?

She wants a Tesla now, oh boy!

I have a feeling my electric bike is going to get a lot of usage this summer:)

Those don't burn but they sure are expensive. Like 4 gees, I heard.
Today, even my local Lexus dealer told me to fix mine instead of buying another. Life is not as much fun as it used to be except for the alternatives...

And it wasn't that long ago either.. Thats until you add in the Chinks and their virus then followed by the bumbling disaster know as Biden.

I wonder when the car market will leave the nuthouse. Lots are empty, prices are insane, and I am fu*cked with that stupid transmission. I used to enjoy hunting good deals. Sweet memory...

That's what old Dad told you yesterday in post #281.
Look at it like a root canal Rich, just get it done and move on.
It will last longer than you will. :-)

So I decided to look at a toy I should never have - a 2001 corvette. Then I went to the website where the owners can bi*tch. Here is one entry:

Have 2001 manual 6 speed corvette. Column locks up. Have no way to start car or steer. Worried car will lock up steering column while driving. Gm says there's no recall on this. Seems to be a problem on c5 Corvettes.

I guess if one wants to commit suicide, that would be the way to go.

Here is another one:

Recall number 04V060000 recall date 02/09/2004 component steering: column locking:anti-theft device summary. Steering locked at exiting freeway. The fuel supply shut off so the vehicle cannot be moved. The vehicle cannot be steered.

Miracle: GM still in business.

I think Vettes are chick cars.Haha. I drove a my old bosses vette a few times and it was a bumpy and squeaky ride. However, theyre fast!

Youre probably too tall, those cars dont have much room at all. Your head would be hitting the roof.

Lots are empty, prices are insane,

I wouldnt even bother right now. Biden doesnt have any answers for anything and no end in sight.

For your viewing pleasure:)

They are for the guys with a three-car garage. Just to sit there and look pretty. I mean the car, not the chick. Especially if it's yellow.

Those cars are called, "trailer dollies".
They never drive them and just trailer them to car shows.
Better than money in the bank these days.

Compared to the used car prices, my $3600 tranny repair bill looks passable. To feel better I will pretend it was the money I was planning to donate to the refugees in some sh*ithole 5000 miles from me.

You got exactly what you wanted. Please remember that Germany is a democracy and that the German swamp, in concert with other "democratic" swamps, does what the voters voted for.
