Well I thought I would contribute and provide my interpretation of this tradition.

For me is started with a request for information that led to even more frustration as they aggravating things about Poland were magnified here by some of the "colorful" people who roam the PF halls.

Starting on the positive side:

I would be remiss if I did not first point out the very polite and helpful responses of Harry who is ironically a British expat in Poland but knows more about day to day life and administrative things here than any Pole I have ever met. So thanks to the honorable gentleman from the UK for his assistance.

I have also been pleasantly surprised by a few Polish expats who tend to be the most stubborn of Poles but in the following cases break that mold:

Bzibzioh is a wise, admirable and some would say drop dead gorgeous woman who somehow maintains her sense of humor while dealing with the handicaps of being Polish and having to live in Canada. Much respect from me :)

Miranda whom I don't know well but seems to have decent and centered views about how people should treat others and that is always something to be proud of.

PolishGirlTX who while seems to have not lost the traditional Polish female temper while living in the land of cowboys has shown that she does have a good heart while she helps people translate their sweet messages to loved ones and encourages the effort. And yes boys...she is a looker.

Sausage who though while his name is mildly disturbing has seemed to maintain a fairly neutral view of life and seems to be an all around decent bloke.

Seanus because he agrees with me often...not really but he does make an effort to be fair and balanced and that is a rare characteristic in this day and age. I haven't quite figured out which kingdom of Britain he comes from as I swear I have seen him referred to as Scottish and English. Either way he is ok in my book.

Bratwurst Boy who scores points by being German because I appreciate the good points of that society without focusing on the past (which many can't seem to do) and also he appears to have a good grasp on reality and I appreciate that.

AussieExpat because I sympathize with her plight and let's face it...everyone likes Australia and Australian girls.

Matyjasz one of the few honest and reasonable Polish men on this board and maybe in the world. He is able to avoid the usual traps of arrogance and denial so common here.

JustysiaS who I know gets under some people's knickers but I think she is at the core a good chap who does care about others. She is temperamental for sure but so damn cute it makes up for it. Pip pip cheerio and all.

Daisy who seems generally sweet and friendly. Plus with a name like Daisy what could you possibly say that is bad?

Dice who unfortunately has chosen to leave though I totally understand. it IS hard to put up with the people below...

Speaking of people below. I can honestly say I have never seen a forum with so many nasty people who seem to be unable or averse to discussing pros and cons or a place without turning it into a battle over slavic superiority. While I have said a thing or two that was a little but over the line I believe in owning up to the truth and trying to improve things. This brings us to the list of udesirables but where to start??

Now I am just picking names form a random order so I don't want the first person to get their ego all hard and erect thinking they have made #1 or anything. We know how much that would mean to you. That being said:

Z_Darius another Pole in Canada (when will you have enough to join with Chicago and create your own nation?) who epitomizes the "I am Polish and smarter than you because we have high IQs and like to wear tiny square glasses" crowd. He fancies himself a bit of a wordsmith with English and totally avoids the point of a sentence in exchange for nitpicking little errors to demonstrate his massive mental superiority...only it doesn't work :( Stick to Scrabble games.

Wahldo another slavic brother (czech) it seems residing in the USA and imagining himself a Pole but not quite being able to pull off the scowl convincingly. He doesn't understand how the US could possibly keep track of how many Poles stay illegally and the thing called 'counting them as they come in and IF they leave' seems to be a conspiracy theory to him.

Crow who seems to think Serbia is some sort of supernation whose people contain the gene of God thereby making them naturally better than all others. His propensity for posting propaganda and slavic fantasies is at once humorous and disturbing.

Filios the experiment gone wrong during a super secret Polish/Greek crossbreeding program whose objective was to infuse the frowning Polish culture with the overbearing enthusiasm of their fellow EU members from Greece. Unfortunately they messed up and put the halves they intended to toss out together and let the good ones be disposed of. Pity.

Southern I suspect Southern was instrumental in the Filios experiment and due to his shame and exile has come to PF to try and find a home. He is a man without a culture now outcast from Greece but despised by Poland for what he wrought upon them with Filios.

Franek A bitter old Polish expat who seems to enjoy telling anyone who will listen how many houses, cars, TVs and whatever else he has and seems to enjoy the fact that in America you have the Freedom of Speech and can even say ridiculous racist BS and not be imprisoned. Great isn't it?? The fact that he is likely thrice divorced and chasing after young materialistic women like a desperate old man could not be more obvious.

Arctic Paul A smarmy Brit who is the antithesis of the kind and helpful Harry and seems to have come from the same womb as Z_Darius at they share a common 'arrogance' gene. I guess mom had a secret....shhhhhhh.

IronsE11 another one of the Queen's subjects who has taken himself a little too seriously. I guess some people get grumpy being cooped up on a little island with horrible weather and bad cuisine. That or he is angry that his boyfriend doesn't find him attractive anymore.

gtd some American wanker who lives in Poland and thinks he is the resident expert on Polish culture. He is just angry because he has to pay three times as much as he should for clothes and electronics. I bet right now he is sitting alone at Zloty Tarasy scowling at all the Poles surrounding him with their gelled mohawks and tiny glasses.

And to wrap it up all of the Pakistani, Arab and Asian guys in general who seem to think finding a wife is as simple as posting an ad at the bus stop. Goats are probably going to be a more realistic option fellas. Just watch out for the back hooves....ask Arctic Paul or IronsE11...they can really leave a mark.

So to those of you with kind hearts and good intentions I thank and salute you. If only the site staff would put forth the effort at cleaning the scum off the pond this site could be a wonderful resource. I am happy to hear through numerous PM's that I am not the only one who feels this way.

To any I may have left out on the good list my apologies I am hungry and off to dinner. To anyone left off the bad list leave a note and I will include you at the first convenience :P

Cheers to all and be safe ;)

Could a kind moderator split gtd's post off in to its own thread? It will no doubt generate a gastric discussion and Lotker's thread doesn't need to become lost in the ensuing vitriol. :)

TIA

Please leave it. I see no reason that there should be a different standard applied to me than the rest. Though thus far the standards seem quite absent.

Thank you for the complement…but I can’t condone some of the nasty things you said about some of my fellow PF members………..Crow is a certifiable lunatic and Southern is a sexually deviated pervert, this much is true………but, Z_Darius is a respected lover of cats, so that shows how clever he is…….and Filios is the loveliest boy wolf on the forum (note I said boy wolf, he’s not lovelier than polishshewolf who is a girl) he just howls a bit when the moon gives him insomnia

Let me add my point of view.
Southern, his Majesty who honours the forum by his invaluable and insightful opinions.
Crow, the slavic giant who insists on slavic spirit traditions and continuation in times of general decadence.
Wahldo,the stoic,wise and tolerant Czech.
Matyjasz whose opinions are exceptionally deep and take all aspects into account.
ConstantineK,the commited lover of Byzantium with the rare delicate russian humour.
Sasha, the russian inspector who always keeps interest on polish affairs and who actively tries to understand the others' point of view.
Filios, the succesful polish-greek experiment who combines polish pride and greek temperament.

Magdalena,a very smart polish girl with very unique opinions.
Krakowianka,a girl who breaks traditions.
Justysia because she changed her photo.
Joepilsudki,a mild guy who never forgets polish interests.
Grzegorz for his short sharp comments.
Szarlotka because she is normal although she is a girl.

Let's see the douches.
Gtd,the champion of mental masturbation who has managed to anger everybody with his continuous politically correct attacks to conformity.
Harry, the Mossad agent who tries to persuade us that he was executed in Auschwitz.
Nonimmigration who tries to immigrate to Poland to get a job.
I cannot write negative comments for ladies.

Like warmed-up cabbage served at each repast, the repetition kills the wretch at last

Well that quote from Juvenal just about sums up the last couple of weeks on here to be honest. The amount of recycling of old content and arguments would gladden the heart of Greens the world over (love it Szar, cabbage, greens – Ed). We’ve had the Muslim thing, the Jewish thing, the Russian thing, the German thing and the gay thing reprocessed and repackaged yet again. Mind you, the debates may be repetitious but there have been some real humdingers of responses flying about. None of that polite replies rubbish. Oh no. It’s been full in your face insults from the first sentence. Personally I blame the credit crunch for shortening all our fuses. Suffice it say that even the most balanced and reasonable amongst us -take a bow Seanus – has being showing his teeth. I tell you, we’re all under pressure and it’s showing. Still, despite the paucity of attention grabbing content, the show must go on.

The new Most Powerful Person in the World

Obviously many of you will assume this is either Gzregorz or Admin. Actually it’s not. It’s that nice chap from Chicago Mr Barack Obama. Reams of stuff have been written in the press and on here about the future for the US under his leadership. Having waded through hundreds of posts I am now in a position to provide you with the collective view of us all about the impact he will make on the world and in particular the implications of his period in office on Poland. Er, we don’t really know. Never mind, it will be fun finding out. As an aside some of the reactions to the Obama jokes posted were, how do we say, a little polarised.

New Guidance Systems.

I’m not talking sat-nav or Scud missiles here. Rather I refer to the emergence of a rival life counselling service to the established and renowned ‘Ask Joe’ feature. Lodz_the _Boat has offered us the benefit if his wisdom in solving all those niggling things wrong in our lives. My immediate thought was for the poor buggers who ask both of them the same question and get conflicting responses. Will they counselees take the easy way out? Will they phone the Samaritans first? Luckily this has not arisen yet since the only question Boatie has answered so far seems to have been to advise Osiol on whether to knock down a few internal walls in his flat (apartment).

Obama’s not the only big cheese in the Windy City.

Indeed he is not. Southern is in Chicago. After less than four hours after touchdown at O’Hare he has launched a new thread to compare and contrast the US and Europe. In the first post he set out a few first impressions which, not surprisingly, seem like a thinly veiled attempt to provoke another us and them debate. Still, he didn’t mention Polish girls once so I guess we should be grateful for small mercies. Just a word of caution to Southern. Think back carefully my friend. Have you ever upset Sledz in the past? After all you’re in his territory right now.

Omnibus Overdrive.

We have had another guest contributor here. The talent that is gtd kindly contributed a brief analysis of the good, the bad and the ugly amongst us regular contributors. Oh all right, he missed out the ugly which was a shame as I might have made an appearance in his post, given that I am neither good nor bad. Incidentally given the prodigious output of the man I think he should change his user name to gti (no typo). The ensuing burst of responses to his post taught me two things. Firstly, it was more interesting than my scribbles. Secondly some people thought that I would be offended to have the Omnibus littered with idle chit chat. Why on earth would I be? The whole fekking thread is idle chit chat. The only reason the thread is ‘sticky’ is because it’s a mess.

Psst – wanna buy some property?

In particular would you want to buy a flat in Krakow. The whole thread has some useful views and counterviews on the economic prospect for Poland as a whole and the property market specifically. Some see Poland as well isolated from the global downturn whilst others doubt the latest economic predictions. It will be interesting to see what happens. The hope has to be that Poland’s economic growth is not unduly adversely affected.

Polish Drivers

It’s official. They’re not as good as some but better than Saudis, Kuwaitis, Chinese and Indian drivers and also better than Nepalese Yak herders. The recent national holiday road death statistics pointed to another few days of human tragedy that could and should have been avoided. Let’s hope the message gets through over time.

And finally.

Congratulations to Wroclaw Boy who is going to be a daddy next year. Nice to see Lir and Pingwin popping back in to say hi to us all. I hope Decorator’s birthday went well. I raised my Guinness in salute to him.

Just a short Omnibus this week as I have to fly, literally.
