PF is a very interesting site thats for sure. Someone who is a tourist and doesn't speak the language but has a passport would only be a moron to consider himself from the country he has a passport from in this case. I was saying that nationality is based on the place you are born not if you're parents or ancestors come from somewhere else. You cant claim you are German if you were born in Poland even though you're parents are immigrants for example. The jewish thing is confusing as they themselves often claim jewish first than nationality second. Look at Polish tartars. For example they are Polish or kashubs.

A lot of people in Poland mostly right wingers think that if you disagree with them or dont think like them youre not Polish. They make it sound like everyone wants to be Polish. Polish Tatars lived in Poland for hundreds of years and at this point are not really Tatars anymore, they look European. They are Tatars only by religion and their mixed Polish-Tatar names and surnames. Kashubs have also lived in Poland for over a thousand years and have had mixed marriages with Poles, all of them speak Polish and were born in Poland plus their culture is basically the same as Polish. This is not similar in anyway to what the guy above stated about "not speaking polish, visiting poland on vacation, and having a polish passport given to him in adulthood".

The difference you should make clear is asking if someone is Nationally considered "Polish" based off of a National passport. Simply saying "I'm Polish" includes Ethnicity too. This is the average American style of thinking because American is not an ethnicity.
