Brexit Britain on its way to a Banana Republic?

I can see it short term but a long term is rather against their interest.

Their long term plan was to react to any spread of communism following the Truman doctrine, and keep any Imperial powers out of America (including specifically Latin America). Having good relations with Canada, keeping Mexico in check is vital for them. After the fall of the Soviet Union, they have scratched that plan and went victorious and relaxed until the 9/11 crisis. Then it was terrorism which was the big thing and long term enemy, slowly but surely making their own population terrorized not only by a fringe extremist group, but also their own very government and the virus that spread.

U.S.A keep on trying to find their "next big enemy" and now have an debate wether the conservative "reactionary" are the enemies of the U.S and most damaging or the LGBT side are the enemy of the U.S as a whole and the common man found in a crossfire with it. Dragging foreign countries into all this domestic dispute, and endangering the present dynamic which Poland has help sustaining in Europe. Going purposely against Poland´s national interests, doesn´t help the U.S, even if their biggest supporters are governing the country. Just because the Democrats see PiS more aligned with the republicans politically, they are ruining relations which were building with the U.S administration as a whole.

That would mean Poland has aquired a real bad image and lost alot of good will not only in Brussels but in Washington as well....

Is there any finger pointing at PiS bad diplomacy in Poland at all?

Or are Poles instead rallying around PiS and against all foreign "meanies"? Preferring Poland to be the proud loner again?

I repeat, with more diplomatic skill and building of a network in Brussels that pipeline would be dead by now! But for that it would need a pro-european government in Warsaw...a real one!

I really doubt that...if PF is any example to go by...

Most of the media is anti-PiS, takes really little for them to critisize them for anything. Including media such as Media Narodowe, rzeczpospolita, Polsat News, TVN... You name it! It´s just TVP which most likely won´t oppose for obvious reasons, the opposition wanting them taken down completely

PF is an american forum about Poland, talking about Poland. Not PiS only, I don´t know any PiS supporters on this forum. I guess I am the closest you can find to be a PiS supporter here, and I am unwilling to vote for them for a long time now. Proportionally this forum doesn´t represent Polish voting patterns in the slightest at all.

doesn´t represent Polish voting patterns

Good point :)

If PF was representative Konfederacja would rule Poland with very weak PSL and PO in the opposition and PiS virtually nonexistent. :)

Britons thought that the Brexit would be the pathway to good old days when they were a sovereign nation. They were badly cheated. Now they have to import more muslim engineers than ever , LOL.

Some types of cancers are incurable. Muslim cancer combined with stupidity is especially nasty when the patient is proud to have it and argues with the doctors to keep it.

What on earth is the logic behind Biden bending over to Russia

The question is, "What on earth is the logic of Britain bending over for China".
The Queen Elizabeth strike group did not conduct a 12 mile transit as they said they would.
Considering its failure to conduct a 12 mile transit, that seems unlikely.
Regardless, China has won a significant victory.
Beijing's primary Western focus propaganda outlet explicitly warned the British to avoid a 12 mile transit.
The same one the Americans keep using under International law.
It knew that such a transit would show the world that its strategy of economic bribery had met its limit and that the world was waking up to the fact that more is at stake with Beijing than the question of short term investment.

Johnson got the message.
Johnson is happy to sell critical semiconductor infrastructure to Beijing, but where it matters most, he'll leave America on its own.
Washington should and will take note.

This is worth reading:
bbc.co.uk/news/technology-58027363

The international naval exercises currently conducted around South East Asia have nothing to do with the USA's position on the various disputed islands. The dispute is between China on one side and Philippines & Vietnam on the other, an long-running issue that the UK has little involvement in.

The US tried to drag us into the war they lost in Vietnam; the PM wisely refused. The Aussies foolishly took part and regretted it.

The Aussies foolishly took part and regretted it.

Let's hope they remember that experience and filed it in the Never Again folder. The same for Poland and Iraq.

Hey, that's a good plan so don't knock it. When the UK reaches the standard of living Jamaicans enjoy in Jamaica, they will quit coming.

Mate, I live in Britain and I have not noticed any downsides to leaving the EU at all so far.And I can see some benefits on the horizon.

Cheated?
I think not.

@Milo

Apropos thread starter.....what happened to that blasted idea?

Journalists could face up to 14 years in prison for stories embarrassing the Government

Nothing came of it, right?

Nothing came of it, right?

Journalists, like everybody else, should be prosecuted for receiving, selling, and benefiting from any stolen property. If it's marked "secret", add espionage charge.
How some bureaucrat feels - embarrassed or depressed - should be irrelevant.
Today, everybody is a journalist and the word lost all meaning. Even Strzelec.

What idea? That Britain has become a banana republic?
First off, we are not a republic.
Second, we don't grow bananas.
Next?

*sigh*

One day after "Freedom Day":

Journalists could face up to 14 years in prison for stories embarrassing the Government

Isn't that the job of journalists?

dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9806517/Journalists-face-14-years-prison-embarrassing-Government-proposed-law-change.html

That's not that hard to understand, is it.....

could

Could being the operative word. It won't happen.

The Daily Mail is a trashy tabloid whose owners pay no tax. It's a reliable source only for celebrity gossip.
