Blog problems after name changing, the website cannot be accessed

Hi folks

For anyone who is familiar with website and particularly blogger, I have an issue.

I am the admin of a blog site called polandsoccerblog.com. A while ago I wondered if it was possible to change the website name without having to start over, so I edited the name in the settings section on the blogger dashboard. Unfortunately now, even when I put the original name back, the website cannot be accessed. You can see for yourself when you type in the website. Is there some way of restoring the way things were in the default or have I pushed it beyond the possibility of repair and would not have to start the website again?

Hi, what does it say in "Blog Address" in your dashboard?

Why is the Google logo on the 404 page?

Hi, what does it say in "Blog Address" in your dashboard?

It says polandsoccerblog.com

Why is the Google logo on the 404 page?

Because Google runs the world?

In order for your website to show up under the domain name polandsoccerblog.com you need to purchase that domain and a hosting package and upload the content/files to that package. Seeing as the original blog was a google application under a fixed google (dotdomainextension) no it would never work as you'd hoped.

Cant you go back to your control panel and change the settings back, its all under one google account anyway.

Is this your blog?
polandsoccerblog.blogspot.com

Is this your blog?

If so, then it seems that your blog somehow "re-published" itself on the initial subdomain on which you started the blog.

In this case, you would have to go through a similar process as when you purchased the domain and moved the blog to that domain. I am not too familiar with blogspot as I mainly use Wordpress, but this article might help you.

Hi guys

Thanks for attempting to help

Yes that is the blog above because I had to resort to setting back to the free domain that is not custom, to get it back. It looks like in order to get a custom domain I'll have to pay for one again.

I'll have to pay for one again.

If i am not mistaken your domain is registered with godaddy and expires on 30.03.15. So you can just go through the same process as you did when you purchased it and extend the domain in your godaddy hosting panel. If you want to keep the same domain that is.

You (or your ISP) infringe their registered trademark, I hope you know that... :)

Blogger / Blogspot is a Google blog hosting service that is why it showed the Google 404 error page.

Okay, thanks - that's of course a different story. It wasn't obvious though that polandsoccerblog.com is hosted there.

Still the same 404 error. Did you change the domain?

No if you type polishsoccerblog.com, it should work. It works for me.

Perhaps you're typing in 'poland,' rather 'polish'

This brings me to my next question. How do you redirect people who type in polandsoccerblog and get an error, to polishsoccerblog? I know you go to the settings, search preferences and then on to custom redirects. When I type in my old and new address in there, it does not seem to work. It tells me I need to put in / before it. Does someone know exactly what part of the address I am supposed to type in to the boxes?

Just realized I don't think it can be done. I don't own the rights to the polandsoccerblog.com domain so cannot get it to redirect to this one. I think that custom redirects area is just for pages that are a part of the same site.

Did you buy polandsoccerblog.com? Was it the domain that you have used before?

No I wrote for polandsoccerblog but then the owner stopped writing there. I was an admin at the site as well and his domain was running out so I decided to buy a domain and alter the name slightly. This is probably why I cannot redirect anything from polandsoccerblog.
