I used the word Mayflower as a 'catch-all term' but yes, that is the case.

Some of the earliest settlers (Iif not the Mayflower then pretty near it in time) came from a place near me called Austerfield. The tiny 900 year old parish church is beautifully and expensively restored, paid for by gilded-age Americans. I think people were/are rooting for Iran to give both aggressors a bloody nose to puncture their hubris.
