yeah, the massive famine in Africa and some other parts of the world will be the..

A mess. He probably wants to sell oil as a way of mitigating the disasters his tariffs are causing to their economy. However yes, it will be the poorest who suffer.

puny Euro tires

There aren't any tires in Europe.

Only tyres.

Yurpeens never even learned to put a chicken in a can

You may well put chickens in tins but you can't do this:

Reporter: Deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure violate the Geneva conventions and international law.

Trump: Who are you with?

Reporter: I'm with the New York Times

Trump: Failing New York Times. Circulation is way down.

Reporter: Are you concerned that your threat to bomb power plants and bridges amount to war crimes?

Trump: No, not at all. These are disturbed people. Quiet. You no longer have credibility. You're fake.

He came up with a better argument, good old dehumanization:

TRUMP: "The Iranians are animals. That's why blowing up their bridges and power stations isn't a war crime."

I'm at loss for words.

That looked like fake news however apparently the War Criminal really did say it.

Iranians are forming human chains on bridges and around power plants....

Vance is saying they are using children as shields.

I watched the videos - I saw no coercion. I saw no children.

Iranians are some... crazy motherf*ckers!

Safe to say - that any hopes of regime change were quite unfounded. These people are daring America to kill them, at the same time as their civilian infrastructure.

Will Trump go through with his threat, and kill all these people?

At 8 PM tonight, US Eastern Time, I guess we'll see.

I hate this planet. I want to go to Mars.

Vance

This man had the cheek to say that the EU was interfering in Hungarian elections while interfering in a Hungarian election.

The blood thirsty gang of war criminals that make up the regime in the US are stereotypical of cowardly bullies. I don't do the cesspit that is social media but if what you say is true, then all support to the good people of Iran.

It's time that the rest of NATO decided which side they are on, they have sat on the fence for too long.

but if what you say is true

It's true.

Vance has already been on camera raging about it.

I saw men and women gathering around a power plant and waving around Iranian flags.

Also, standing shoulder to shoulder on the oldest bridge in the world, built by Shapur.

These people are.... nuts! And I thought we were nuts. These guys can give Russians a run for their money in the game of sacrifice.

Honestly, I kneel before the Iranians.

More like Ukrainians, successfully defending themselves from an illegal and unprovoked invasion by war criminals and child killers.

It's time that the rest of NATO decided which side they are on, they have sat..

But nothing ever happens - it's just orange retard talking sh!t as usual, and he will TACO as usual. He will say the negotiations are going great, deal will be made very soon, so he decided to extend the deadline. Stock market will go up, right people will make money, then we rinse and repeat.

He so far did nothing to upset the status quo, just like any other war in the last few decades. Nothing really happened in the world since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, that was the last big geopolitical shift we've seen. I guess you could also count the rise of China, but it was gradual and pretty much anyone with a brain knew it would eventually happen even decades ago.

US actually following on their threat to mass genocide Iranians, then Iran doing the same in response to US allies in the region, and all the consequences following that, could actually upset the global status quo in a meaningful way. It could cause changes on a scale unseen since 1991. So it won't happen.

US actually following on their threat to mass genocide Iranians

I think many people will come to their help.

They won't be without power and water for long.

China and Russia are already helping, and they will keep helping. If China and Russia put their mind to something, there's nothing they can't do. Iran can be reconstructed, to be more prosperous than it was before this terrible war.

The Persians have inspired many people around the world through their example.

These are a proud people.

His deadlines are as stable as his 'genius'...

- March 21 "Open the Strait in 48 hours";
- March 23 "Open it in five days";
- March 26 "Open it in ten days";
- March 30 "Open it immediately";
- April 4 "Open it in 48 hours";
- April 5 "Open it in [another] 48 hours".

I don't doubt you it was only that I don't do social media.

These guys have balls of steel...here is a quote from an Irish patriot

"It is not those who can inflict the most but those who can endure the most who will conquer" is a famous quote by Terence MacSwiney

Terence died on hunger strike just like Bobby Sands did many years later, balls of steel doesn't even begin to describe these people. More power to the Iranian people.

Incidentally the Iranians renamed the street the British embassy was located on to Bobby Sands Street which is grade A trolling.

Bobby Sands

Caught planting a bomb in a furniture shop in Ireland several hours before their annual sale opened. If he and his fellow terrorists hadn't been caught, the bomb would have exploded at 11am when the shop was full of families.

Good riddance to him.

You are lying. I watched a documentary film, that covered this episode.

They took the security guard, and then rounded up the rest of the staff and customers. They removed them to safety. There were no plans to kill people, just to burn the factory down.

Why do you make these things up?

You spend so much time hating on Russian imperialism, and here you are acting as an apologist for British excess.

At least be consistent. What you did to the Irish, is no better than what had happened to the Ukrainians.

Good that never happened then.

You don't need me to tell you that the partition between north and south was made to stop protestant militias murdering catholics and that the majority opinion in Britain and declared policy of the government at the time was strongly for home rule. The tories shouldn't have hanged Casement though; he was one of the good guys. Childers too.

You also don't need me to tell you that Northern Ireland (like the rest of the UK) has regular, free and fair elections which the shinners have never won. When they do, a referendum will probably happen (to the great relief of the rest of the UK who have no great love for either the orangemen or their rivals) and things will change. Until they do, that's how it is.

Anyway, Ireland and Britain have excellent relations and the issue in the thread is that the American president is using language that resembles that of the Third Reich more than the land of the Roiosevelts, Jonas Salk and Matin Luther King.

Instead we get:

"a whole civilisation will die tonight, never to be brought back again. don't want that to happen, but it probably will,

Makes all the difference. Was it on youtube?

What you did to the Irish, is no better than what had happened to the Ukrainians.

Aside from the fact that where I'm from most people are to an extent Irish or part Irish (including myself with roots in County Mayo) I don't recall us firing a thermobaric bomb at a theatre with 400 hundred kids inside and the word 'children' painted in large letters on. the roof and nor do I recall us attacking one of their nuclear power stations or deliberately destroying a dam to kill everyone in the water's path.

Makes all the difference. Was it on youtube?

No it was not, but in a class, and something the professor shared with us. An Irish-American.

Aside from the fact

Aside from the fact that Irishmen provided up to 40% of your manpower for all your wars. Just as Ukrainians bled primarily for Russia.

Aside from the fact that you starved them and exploited them - to such an extent - that Ireland is one of the very few nations which still has a lower population than it did in the 1850s.

Aside from you making them into foreigners in their own country - and eliminating their language, and attempting to eliminate their religion.

Aside from all these facts - yes, you are a model Imperial overlord.

Who'd a thunk it. An American history professor with identity grievance! Whatever next!

Aside from the fact that Irishmen provided up to 40% of your manpower for all your..

And? Their military regiments have a long history.

Aside from the fact that you starved them

Their ruling class who did that was Irish rather than English and still is.

and eliminating their language, and attempting to eliminate their religion.

That would be the language that is still used there (and is used in BBC broadcasts) and also in some diaspora communities in Britain. The only languages in Ireland that are no longer used are Yola and Fingallian, both far closer to English than Irish and whose slow disappearance was nobody's fault. The RC religion is doing fine and although protestants (mostly in Ireland) opposed the opening of Maynooth, it nevertheless opened. As for 'their' religion, there were always plenty of protestants in the Kingdom of Ireland.

Anyway, you're talking history and a small island next to a big one throughout the middle ages and age of empires is always likely to have a lot of that. The most important thing is what we do now and how we go forward; and right now we are going forward positively and with mutual respect.

Stop trying to go off topic to distract from your (very current) war crimes in Ukraine and learn from us.

The one country that can go toe to toe with the US in revolting packaged 'food'..

I can think of a country that does better. They're banned from the Olympics for good reason so maybe we should give them a gold medal for this:

Apologies, you are right.

Today is a crazy day. By the time the sun goes down here in North America, we'll know whether we are entering a new and unpredictable stage, or whether the clown in the White House will back down.

The pic I posted of the horrible tinned food is gone (maybe Admin booted it on grounds of good taste). Here's a link anyway:

Open a thread and I'll go toe to toe with you on the bollox quoted above or any other aspect of Ireland you like.

Anyway, as a good socialist are you not disappointed by Starmer and his handling of Trump? He does appear to be growing a bit of a backbone but is allowing US using Britain as a platform to commit genocide. Granted he inherited a **** show from the misrule of the Tories and the fall out from the bollox that was Brexit leaving Britain exposed. He needs to deliver an improvement and doesn't appear to have a plan. The main critics are the very people who created the mess he has to deal with. Personally I don't like him because he is an idea free zone and a supporter of genocide in Gaza.

What I am worried about is that after Trump Europe will think its business as usual, particularly Ireland. Ireland is almost the Trojan horse in the EU exhibit A being trying to sue the EU to allow Apple to keep its illegal profits.

Not me but not wrong...

"We need a whole bucket full of "Fell for it again" awards, not just for them, but for MAGA, Trump, Europe and even Israel. The only ones who aren't falling for it is the Iranian leadership, learning only at the third instance that US overtures at "negotiations" or a "ceasefire" is simply a pretext to murder the negotiators. Say what you like about Putin, but he never did that. The ancient Greeks and Romans and Persians and assorted barbarians would have never done that."

Say what you like about Putin, but he never did that

He did it to Prigozhin

The UNNR also did that to Imre Nagy in 1958 and that Afghan president in 1979

@cms neuf
Was Prigozhin a negotiator or a lackey forgetting his place?

Now a list of colonial crimes may be illuminating...spoiler alert the Brits don't come out looking good. But to stay on topic who organised the coup in Iran?

The fact that a NATO member murdered negotiators cannot be swept under the carpet

War crimes by NATO members are not ok simply because they are not done by Russia. Starmer endorsing the withholding of water from newborn children and cancer patients is not ok because he is in NATO
jon357  75 | 25343

Anyway, as a good socialist are you not disappointed by Starmer

No he's doing fairly well. The Labour Party isn't a protest movement; they have to run a government and economy with people's livelihoods, health and food security to consider and he has done the right thing in handling trump carefully.

is allowing US using Britain as a platform to commit genocide.

He has refused them access to bases where they need permission, as already mentioned. For places like Rendlesham, they don't need to ask and that can't be easily or quickly changed.

doesn't appear to have a plan

We've already met most of our manifesto promises and now have economic and military firefighting to do.

I'd rather have a grey lawyer in office than an orange painted sociopath or the blonde bouffanted sukisynka that wrecked my pit village home and the lives of most people in it.Charisma looks good on camera and fools people like Joker (shiny things impress my cat too) however as Ann Reid said in the last episode of Years and Years "Beware those men. The jokers and the tricksters and the clowns. They will laugh us into hell."

As far as I'm concerned, Barney, politics isn't an electoral buffet where someone selects from the LibDems because they like what they say on Palestine or the Greens because they say seductive things about clean energy or Reform because someone's neighbour's turban gives them conniptions or Corbyn/Sultana because they've got the emotional maturity of a university first year who feels he has to rebel against the world; it's a generational struggle against a very tough and intelligent enemy.

spoiler alert the Brits don't come out looking good.

A damn sight better than any other major colonial power. Three years in former French West Africa was a revelation. They still had chattel slavery in the 1950s and still make money from every single foreign currency transaction there. As for Spain...

But not as fantastic as Blair eh?

I'd not call him 'fantastic' by a long chalk. He appeared with promises about the third sector (cooperatives and and not-for-profit) largely to convince the long term party members to vote for him in our equivalent of the primaries then let us down. To his credit, he raised million children from below the poverty line however I refer you to the post above warning against charismatic politicians.

Great that trump's crapped out again. Now to remove him under the 25th amendment. This time he called them "animals" and said "a civilisation will die tonight".

He shouldn't be given a second chance after that.
