so your theory is busted, because there is no territorial stratification for people immigrating to the USA after WWII from Poland.

???

:):):):)

Why not 222 or 301 or 1000 eh? there should be some idea behind those numbers not just - err maybe there is too many MP ! Based on what - hunch ?
I would say that there are too many idiots talking rubbish !

:):):):)

Iron, you should gain a somewhat bigger knowledge of the world than your current one. :):):)

Apart from taking part in the forum and reading my posts, do you ever read anything else?

Poland - 38 million - 560 members of Parliament and Senate
Germany - 80 something million - 691 members of Bundestag and Bundesrat.

See the difference?

So what ?
You are saying that the only reason you have for changing number of member of Parliament in Poland is example of Germany ?
Do you know at least - what is the reason for number of German PMs?
By the way mr beleaguercanopyknowall - Parliament = Senate and Sejm!

typical reaction of PO supporters

Sleepiness is a typical reaction of PO supporters?
So what about PIS, PSL, SLD and Ruch Palikota?
My guesses are:
PIS - lunatics
PSL - sleepovers
SLD - hipersomniacs
Ruch Palikota - insomniacs

Yes, Iron-style thinking makes me sleepy. :):):):)

Iron, if you could, which candidate would you vote: Kaczyński or Ziobro?

Yes, Iron-style thinking makes me sleepy. :):):):)

any kind of thinking makes you sleepy especially when you lost an argument so absolutely and totally that all you can do is lay down with your paws in the air begging for mercy!

No wonder you prefer deflect attention away from your pathetic person and make all sorts of pathetic claims and comments - to no avail :)

Iron, if you could, which candidate would you vote: Kaczyński or Ziobro?

Which one have in his program scaffold for all those commie traitors and all those rags who after 1989 jumped on the wagon with them to make fortunes on the expense of the nation?

I think neither, so as long as there isn't such a statesman, I may as well decide with flip of a coin!
head or tails pawian ?

Why are most PiS supporters so hopelessly uneducated? :):

Poland election result

Oh la la, you are a pessimist. I didn`t know that side of you.

However, you may be wrong about both politicians mentioned above. When in power 2005-2007, they were trying very hard to organize anti-commie and anti-system witch hunt but were eventually contained by lost elections.

Candidates as young men

Miller always dreamt of becoming a submarine crew member

Ziobro always dreamt of becoming a good boy:

Pawlak always dreamt of becoming a firefighter

Kaczyński always dreamt of becoming an actor:

Komorowski always dreamt of becoming a boy scout

and defender.

Palikot always dreamt of becoming a businessman

Korwin Mikke always dreamt of becoming a smart guy

Did they ? Good! However I doubt that, most likely what you call witch hunt was simply an attempt at catching more insolent and less powerful criminals!

A good witch hunt and the system destruction it is exactly what Poland needs badly !

The main purpsoe is to slash the number of fatcat parasites living off the fat of the land (ie taxpayer). So far all the austerity measures are affecting the nation, not the VIPs.

Just going back to Lancias instead of today's pricey BMWs would be a big saving, and many other could be mentioned. It would; also set an example to make other spending cuts more palatable to taxpayer/voters. Esp. if the savings were openly invested in the health service and other weak points of life in Poland.

Presidential and parliamentary as well as local elections and any referendum issues should be merged into a single election day (regardless of whether that means unifying terms in office to 4 or 5 years). People would be more likely to vote if elections were not held so often.

The salaries of members of Parliament aren't so high as you claim. They can't claim that they are too low (considering Polish conditions), so it can't be an incentive to corruption. The salaries are also not so high, byzantine-style. Nothing to complain really.

Great, I agree! Lets also replace expensive jets with less costly Tupolews.... oh, wait, we did that :(

There shouldn't be any presidential elections on nation scale in Poland in the first place.
As for the all elections at the same time I think it is bad idea. The different kinds of elections we have in Poland are a way to show our politicians if society is pleased with their politics and reforms. They are a way to comunicate with our "belowed leaders".

Different elections are also helping to stabilize situation. Because of them politics is more an evolutionary process.
Every kind of elections in one day can be simply called - revolution. Not really a constructive idea.

Polo, you should read this article to learn that most Polish government officials do not go over the top with classy cars:

Summary:

Newspaper dealing with financial topics , " Business Pulse " , published official data on ministerial cars. What drive our ministers and why so often choose the product of our western neighbors - Skoda Superb ?

It turns out that the real hit among the ministerial fleet Skoda Superb . The reason is probably quite low price and good quality car. BMW 7 Series , which is one of the state ministries, is almost 4 times more expensive than the Skoda ! In the case of patching holes in the budget the money argument is of extreme importance when selecting specific models for Members.

Lancias are still used, even as old as 1997.

The most popular car is Skoda Superb.

Why? Because it is cheap and reliable.

Merged: Poland's presidential election prediction by CBOS

Polish pollster CBOS has conducted a survey which showed that 51% planned to vote on 10th May and the outcome would go as follows:

Komorowski 46%
Duda 32%
Kukiz 9%
Korwin-Mikke 5%
Ogórek 4%
Jarubas 2%
Palikot 2%

Merged: Presidential debate in Poland's TV?

Anyone watch the presidential debate on TV? Any comments? Is Komorowski right not to debate with the entire line-up and wait for the second round?

Oops, I knew it was planned, but I missed it. Anyway, I didn't particularly watch out for it. Watching a debate of the first round with so many candidates ranting in the TV studio about everything dosn't seem exciting at all ...

Now you know that simply isn't true. The polls show him in a fairly good position. He's a little too conservative for my tastes however he's done the job very well - he's certainly the best President Poland has had so far.

Jon - I might take issue with you on that. The markets at the time liked the ex- communist sports minister. He of the lying curriculum vitae :)

Also I think Cimoszewicz was an intelligent fellow -but of course his lack of memory re: Orlen share dealing excludes him.

A president has to have some charisma, and my dog would be a better candidate than the village bumbkin Komorowski.

KUKIZ-DUDA TO SIĘ UDA! (Kukiz and Duda that will succeed)
On one Polish forum I found this prediction of Sunday's election outcome. It's author speculates that a Duda-Kukiz alliance would create a new poltical force in autumn's general election:

Andrzej Duda - 34.0 %
Paweł Kukiz - 25.0 %
Bronisław Komorowski - 23.0 %
Janusz Korwin-Mikke - 5.0 %
Magdalena Ogórek - 4 %

I liked Kwaśniewski too - despite the drunken antics he did have charisma which the current one doesn't. One thing I like about him is that he never set out to be a leader - power was thrust upon him automatically when the duck was killed. And he's not put a foot wrong since.

The thought of some walking moustache like Duda getting the job is grim. Even Ogórek would be better. Personally I think Anna Grodzka would make a great President but there's no way she'd appeal to small town Poland. Perhaps she should become the Speaker of the Sejm and we could save up to buy Duda a Tupolev...

For me Komorowski has first of all dignity, even when he lacks charisma. Duda is the puppet of JK, who is in turn a puppet of Mr Maybach.

Duda is a plastic barbie. Everything what he does or tells emanates from Żolibórz.
Polonius3 994 | 12,367
10 May 2015 #145
No-one named Mayback is standing for president. There are a number of people -- Wilk, Kowalski, etc. -- whom hardly anyone has heard of so far, but no Maybach.

GOOD NEWS! Intial exit polls show Duda to be the front-ruuner with 34.8% support. Komorowski is seond with 32.3%. Kukiz is third -- over 20%. I realise this is just an exit poll but it is heartening news indeed. Let's hope it'll be a harbinger of an end to the Platformers' misrule next autumn.

GOOD NEWS!

No that is horrible news. That is the worst news I heard since the reelection of George W Bush in 2004. The only thing that is worse is the fact that 4.4% of votes went for Korwin! (what the hay?!?)

Anyway Duda will be crushed in the second round because most people that voted for Kukiz will probably switch to Komorowski in the next round.
jon357 74 | 21,770

Yep, the first round and the folks who voted for Kukiz (despite his support of right wing causes) are more likely to switch to the President.

I voted for Kukiz and to be honest, I will not vote at all. If I would have to I would choose Duda instead of Komorowski.

Initial exit polls show that Andrzej Duda, candidate of the opposition Law and Justice Party, won 1st place with 34.8% support in Sunday's presidential election. A field of 11 candidates took part. Incumbent Bronisław Komorowski got 32,2% which came as a surprise because he was favored to win by pollsters, mainstream media and betting firms alike. The most unusual result is the more than 20% won by rock star Paweł Kukiz, an anti-establismentarian candidate. Duda and Komorowski are due to clash in two weeks' time in a run-off election to decide who will be Poland's next president.

A lot depends on whom Kukiz calls on his voters to support. If he and several other minority parties give their vote to Duda, he could win by 60%. That could also be a harbinger of a Duda-Kukiz alliance which would finally put an end to the PO's political monopoly and hate industry which has attempted to divide the nation. One of Komorowski's campaign slogans tried to divide the nation into the rational and the radical -- describing himself as rational and the opposition as radical. Komorowski has admitted that the result is a serious warning to the current ruling class.

The only worrying thing is that the low turnout of under 50% may be in part attributable to PO voters who didn't vote under the influence of their party's excessive self-confidence and arrogance of power and the resultant belief that Komorowski was a shoo-in canddiate. If the PO start mobilising their electorate and trot out their worn-out PiS scares, Komorowski will probably do better in the second round. Will it be good enough to win? We'll have to wait and see.One thing is certain. Polish voters want a change. The PO old-boy network has outlived its usefulness.
