I have argued that there was never a state of Palestine and I've never said Palestinians are a race if people. Just yesterday I said as much. However, there are people we refer to as Palestinians, just like there are people we call Americans-not because of race, but because of where they reside. Arab peoples have lived in the region known as Palestine for millennia.
Yasser Arafat was a major roadblock to peace. He wanted to see Israel wiped off the map. It doesn't matter if he was born in Cairo or Jerusalem, he was the lead representative of Palestinians.
