lustration does not punish anybody - it only shows who was a secret agent

Thats right.
I think that lustracja is passe now. What Poland need is punishment to those who deserve it.

Maniacs will accuse innocent people and the witch hunt will erupt.

You are maniac or a snitch. Naming names is harmless.
I think it is pointless now,It should have been done 20 years ago. Today is not enough those people should be punished for their deeds.Together with traitors from Soviet Poland.

They already showed it a few times and many innocent people suffered

Like Boni? He become minister - he suffers like hell.
No, naming names is not enough any more.

What kind of crimes are we talking about?
If there are people that committed violent crimes against others, but were protected by a past government, by all means, they should be take them to court. But treat them just like other criminals. Their political leanings should have no bearing under the law. Right?

But, if you're talking about "he got this apartment because he was a good communist" kind of crimes, then forget about it. Too many people that were just trying to get by and provide for their families would get hurt.

So I don't understand what do you mean. So far it hasn't harmed anyone, quite the opposite. Also it idea was only about naming names and that it.

All this panic stricken individuals making all sort of hysterical claims are just yet another prove that snitches are cowards. They sad stories about dooms day coming IF those names would be named is yet another plot to prevent it from happening.

I mean what I said earlier.
Get it all out - one big purge.
We all know this really needs to happen.

Merged:

Is it a myth that many SB officers became rich businessmen after 1989?

It would be interesting to hear from anyone who knows a former SB officer, or who was one.

Some became rich not all of course and a lot of other people in the commie party and those who had capital or access to a lot of it made off well. After the fall of communism many state assets like factories would be sold for pennies. Ukraine did something similar recently to get cash for the war with Russia
