....maybe it once was a french word meaning salopp...but in german it has a totally different meaning!
To put it bluntly / frankly: Best used when the informal statement is direct or slightly harsh.
To put it casually / informally: Best used when you are just speaking in a relaxed, everyday tone.
Simply put: Good for when you are shortening a complex idea
.Examples in Context "Das Projekt war ihr, salopp gesagt, egal."→ "The project was, to put it bluntly, of no concern to her.""Es ist, salopp gesagt, blöd gelaufen."→ "It was, to put it crudely, a total mess-up.
Salopp really means slut in french??? I am awed! 😮
The elections to the state parliament in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern were won by the fascists and in Berlin by the communists. Dear God, have people lost their minds?
I came to that conclusion awhile ago....based on their demographics the "big cities" will turn left radical whereas all the lands around them will turn right! Think muslim left Mamdani in New York...
Its the big cities the foreigner and the miffed small town fortune seeking crowds gather...in Berlin especially the Left promised voting even for non-citizens and no deportations, with a huge chunk of antisemit, pro-islamist terror supporters...of course they will vote for the Left.
But....as horrible that is for me as a Berliner, it is no real, country-wide movement...nowhere else are even nearly similiar demographics, so the Left is confined to Berlin (and one or two other big cities).
Just watch future elections in our western countries, be it France or Britain, of course the US...you will see the same outcomes!
In the end...as long as I have the choice to move to Brandenburg if I want to, I can live with it. A conservative country with one or two left cities is manageble, better than the other way around! :)
