Emergency Sirens and warning systems being tested where you live in Poland?

Well, is it?

I have noticed over the last week or three that the public emergency sirens (or whatever you want to term them) have been tested rather regularly. It's odd because in the last 10 years, I have never heard the system tested so regularly. My family, friends and students have noticed this too.

Here in Pulway they are tested from time to time and there doesn't seem to be any regular pattern to them, but I should say I hear them at least once, maybe twice a month. That is the seven years I have lived here before that I lived in Lublin for eight years and I think the only time I heard it then was when the Pope died, and 'maybe' on the 11th November for a minutes silence.

Maybe they have got a new toy in your area and they like to try it out :0)

They test the siren every Saturday at noon and since it is so close by, it's really obnoxious and annoying. It blairs for three long minutes. Why not one or, even better, thirty seconds?
