Thank you for accenting thinking. :):) That`s what matters, really.

Final polls are being published today before the electoral silence period, and every vote will count. It's a straight fight between KE and PiS, and no other party is even in the frame.

It's conceivable at this point that only PiS and KE will win seats.

Meh, democracy is the last thing we should want for the EU. That way countries with more people will rule over everyone else. I am for dismantling of the EU parliament and most of the other useless garbage bureaucratic positions. EU should be ruled by the EU council, in which every country should have equal power and limited number of veto per cycle, the democracy part should in electing the dude and in referendums every few years about the direction the EU should go in. Every country should have more authority in internal matter. That way will be the best one,no certain country or ideology will be prevalent while the countries will keep to themself in some matters. In such system even creating an army will make sense. Direct democracy is the worst possible thing that could happen to the EU,it just means that all of the EU is the same country and should be governed by the same laws, morals and believes. And this goes far above and beyond federalisation.

I don't think so. Konferderacja and Wiosna will certainly get more than 5% of the votes each.

There are people who will vote neither of the two principal adversaries, so they may want to either vote Wiosna or Konfederacja or abstain from voting.

I didn't think so a few weeks ago, but after PiS and KE went on the attack, I'm not convinced anymore.

and limited number of veto per cycle,

Interesting idea to allow each country a limited number of vetoes - I quite like it.

Just tell me bluntly, whatever is the case. Can Duda fall in oblivion finally? And is it possible for Poland to again become powerful state with dignity and not some amorphous frigid God forsaken country destined to serve to western Europe?

Can Duda fall in oblivion finally?

Only when all the strings are broken.....

Honestly, the whole story behind both the Polish president and the PM is a disgrace. That the two highest officials are but puppets of a man who holds no office (and is in fact so unpopular that he did not dare standing for election in the first place) is wrong no matter your political affiliation. If PiS rules because the Polish people vote for them is fine, but those who were voted for should then also have the power.
Crow 155 | 9,025
25 May 2019 #730
So you say Duda is used like toilet paper. See, it does not mean that Duda isn`t satisfied with that. He obviously profits.

And, in any case, for how long would Poles tolerate that situation. Does silence of Poles means they are lethargic or they are wise?

pawian - just a simple question - do you watch TVP at all - I don't watch TVN so I probably miss out on how they are reporting or not reporting on significantly reducing the VAT and podatek akcyzowy od paliw hole

Great, another murican preaching about things he doesn't know jack sh!t. Don't you have some new technology scam to occupy your time with?

TVN is not funded by the taxpayers so they can report what they like - just like Radio Maryja and Trwam

TVP is a state funded station and should be neutral

Kind of like juncker.... But you don't seem to mind that he has far more power across numerous countries despite the citizens never having the chance to vote for him
Tacitus 2 | 1,354
25 May 2019 #735
@Dirk diggler

Wrong again. Europeans could and did in fact vote for him in the last European elections. Everybody who voted for a party among the EEP knew that they would appoint Juncker as the president.

But remember how Duda and Szydło promises that they would be their own man (and woman) and that the chairman would have no power over him?

Your argument would only be valid if the EPP appointed another candidate and Juncker would secretly run the show.

Election silence in Poland till Sunday evening. If this is a Polish forum, it should be respected. :):) No polls, no open support for political parties or candidates. One can only encourage people to participate.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Election_silence

Here is my encouragement:

Go to vote! Fight for free democratic Poland!

  • Every doorstep will be our fortress

  • To arms! Save the motherland! Our future fate is in our hands!

It's a shame Notty never told me where he'll be voting, I so wanted to vote there too ;))

I'm planning to vote in the last hour, so that I can get an idea of how many people have voted. The more, the better!

Wrong again. Europeans could and did in fact vote for him

Beaurocrats [politicians are elected, beaurocrats are appointed] of European Commission, of which Juncker is a president, are not directly elected but nominated by the European Council (of which itself is semi-directly elected...) and then approved by the EU Circus that is a Parliament in Strasburg, which itself breaks many democratic rules*.

are not directly elected

Neither is the Prime Minister of most European countries. Look at Poland: the current PM didn't even get elected in 2015 and he isn't a member of the Sejm.

If you're going to complain about people not being elected, that seems a good place to start.

You can spin it however you want tac, at the end of the day the average Polish voter has no voice in choosing the EP president and other bureaucrats

There is nothing to spin here, the average Polish voter has the same voice in choosing the EC president as he has in choosing the Polish PM. The better question is how you can spin it otherwise?

The Polish Election Commission just annonced the newest figures about turnout - over 32% at 5 pm.- the record of all times. When I voted at 12, the turnout was 20% in my polling station. As I predicted, teachers came in droves with families to cast their voice. Good. We shall reach 40% by 9 pm.

Yes, most of my friends from teaching circles have voted. Curiously, the two that used to be very pro-PiS decided not to vote today.

Pawian - politico.eu/article/eu-european-union-parliament-elections-2019-live-blog - quite nice to follow what's going on. Looks like the "nationalist wave" simply hasn't happened.

9 pm, at last. Exit poll results:

PiS - 42.4
KE - 39.1
Wiosna - 6.6
Konfederacja - 6.1
Kukiz - 4.1
Left - 1.3

Turnout - 43%

Let`s remember, exit polls don`t need to be final results. I am sure there will be changes.

Exit poll results:

My hot take: PiS was so desperate to do well because they want some of their more poison members safely out of the way later this year and this year's campaign will be a rerun of 2015 trying to convince people that their crazy days are behind them...

I wonder what goodies they still think they can promise voters

I wonder if the result will get through to Biedroń that he needs to be part of a coalition...
