PiS supporters

The ranks of PiS supporters are growing and account for 48% of those surveyed. That is 4 times more than support KOD (12%). Other groupings: Petru 9%, PO 7% and Kukiz 5%. PSL are below the threshold.

mafketis So? Is that supposed to impress anyone?, probably would not impress a fellow brown shirt as yourself, I don't call out to impress I do it so that lies are not used as propaganda to further someones political interests, we wouldn't want another little Hitler would we.

Mark my words 40 years ago you and I would not be able to have this conversation in Poland, we would both be locked up or worse.

Long live democracy and the freedom of speech in Poland, the rest of our squabbles are just that squabbles, I am glad we have a PIS and PO to debate over.

the Polish nation have again spoken

17.11% turnout?

That democracy.

47.26 percent of 17.11%. Thats 8.061% of the electorate.

Real impressive result.

Petru 9%, PO 7%

Numerical antics? Petru's and PO's showing is even more impressive, eh? The amount of noise they make and the rumpus they raise at every turn is way out of proportion to their strictly marginal, has-been and less than also-ran status!

Petru's and PO's showing is even more impressive, eh?

You're quoting something from a portal that doesn't even have any ownership information and appears to be promoting fringe causes such as a Polish exit from the EU. Not really credible.

Not really credible.

You expect credibility from P3? Now _that's_ a fringe cause if ever I've heard one!

Hahahaha, quite :D

They were salivating over the comments made about Duda on some "KOD" Facebook page, but it transpires that the comments either were completely falisified or were placed on one of the numerous fake KOD pages set up by pro-Russian trolls that want to defend the current pro-Russia stance of the government.

Meanwhile, the Venice Commission decision is coming, and with it - the expectations of the EU and US towards PiS.

the Venice Commission decision is coming

Isn't it out already? I'm sure I read here summary on PF of their decision. Ah, yes, here it is:

The Venice Commission have given the impression that nothing bad is happening in Poland and expressed surprise the Constitutional Tribunal row had evolved into such na imbroglio, since it could easily be resolved by compromise.

See how they going to mage it. I would thank them for their time and then ignore it in they place.

What some odd commission has to say has no bearings and no sway in Poland and shouldn't have.

You would. Of course, when you have the EU and US breathing down your neck and reminding you quietly that your government is relying on their support - both financially and in a military sense - it's much harder. Remember that the US is no stranger when it comes to regime change, and the EU was very much responsible for some of the carnage in Yugoslavia.

Ignore them at your peril.

I'm sure that the EU and V Commission can be and should be ignored.

Latest update : the war by PiS on KOD continues. It seems that they got a considerable fright in the Senate by-election. After this, they are openly suggesting that they will use surveillance methods against KOD members. How can anyone defend such abuse of power?

The suggestion to enact surveillance against opponents of the government by the minister is a scandal. PiS more and more openly shows that the gentle face of the campaign was just a mask.

natemat.pl/173719,pis-wraca-do-metod-rodem-z-prl-wiceszef-msw-zapowiedzial-inwigilacje-liderow-kod

PRL methods indeed.

Oh! You startled me I have though that they are going use air strikes against KOD.

How can anyone defend such abuse of power?

Probably because they think that power is never used other than in abuse. What else can one expect from the trough-grabbers that make up such a large proportion of the most vocal supporters of PIS?

I'm sure that the EU and V Commission can be and should be ignored.

Perhaps! but only by the guilty party. Ignoring international law will have consequences. PIS are hugely outnumbered by defenders of rational democracy.

Guilty of what? You have some weird illogical mind.

Ignoring international law will have consequences

What law? Telling people how to run their own country is no law but a dictate and an oppression and should be debunk for what it really is - an aggression.

PIS are hugely outnumbered by defenders of rational democracy.

There are no need for adjectives nor for qualifiers either there is democracy or there isn't.

Ignoring international law will have consequences

Ignoring the VC after they asked for their opinion will make them seem non-serious (at best). At the same time most citizens of most countries don't like perception of being attacked by outsiders. Outside opinions need a deft touch that the EU doesn't have...

Guilty of what?

Let's start with repeated breaches of the most basic legal requirements in Poland for a start.

I think you will find that EU law prohibits oppression - which is why Poland is likely going to join Hungary in being censored. Union is everybody's business.

If the Hungarians insist on acting like the rabid racists nationalists that they are, at least they are held accountable. The same goes for PIS.

At the same time most citizens of most countries don't like perception of being attacked by outsiders.

The thing is that Poland doesn't really have much room to move here. Ignoring the Venice Commission decision will almost certainly result in the US getting more hostile - and if the EU follows, it's pretty much a one way ticket to diplomatic isolation. The big difference with Hungary is that Orban was always clever enough to keep Germany on his side. Anything that the European Commission took offence to (such as the retail tax) was quietly dropped without fuss.

The predictions are that things are going to heat up considerably after the Venice Commission decision.

things are going to heat up

And that is precisely what you and your KOD creep cronies want -- keep hotting things up, keep harassing the good change govenremnt and using every trick in the book to destabilise society. Also throw in a little snitchery on the side -- that never hurts. The main thing is to let the Pertus and Schetynas get their poltical jollies off.

PiS supporters

PiS supporters, KOD supporters -- all that smacks of what is becoming an archaic rightist-leftist divide. By remaining within that sterotypical framework some people may be missing the boat and misreasding the currently upcoming Zeitgeist.

Many European wonder how so many Americans could possibly support a loudmouthed buffoon such as Trump. But he isn't beign supproted for his buffoonery but because he opposes the fossilised Washington big- government/big-media/big-business clique that has ruled the roost for far too long. Besides, being indepednetly wealthy he is not likely to succumb to corruption.

Similar surprise was voiced by those Poles last October who couldn't understand why so many young voters supported PiS which they regarded as mainly an old people's/Poland B party. Did younger Poels favour populism, nationalism and statism? Probabyl not, but PiS was regarded (rightly or wrongly) as anti-establishmentarian. Hence also the relatively strong support for Korwin and Razem. Hence Tusk's shock when young Poles rejected his ACTA scheme. The growing popularity of nationalist parties across Europe may also reflect the rejection of the liberal-leftstream establishment which for decades have imposed their will on politics, media, culture and education.

Everything changes and goes stale, every utopia has failed so those in power should never forget they are where they are only temporarily.

What is democracy by its definition within ancient Polish (Sarmatian) and ancient Greek tradition? Democracy is rule of people. In Serbian: vladavina naroda (in English = rule of people. People = narod.

Anyway, those who endangering democracy in Poland are those who oppose the will of people and, let me tell it openly, those are Anglos and Anglo sponsored and by Anglos deluded individuals within Poland.

Poland belong to its people. Poland is Polish. Poland is Slavic. Poland is Christian, most of Poles would say Catholic and i respect that.

That is Poland. One who endangering this, endangering democracy in Poland.

It has nothing to do with tolerance of other races, peoples, nations, cultures. No, it only define Poland. Poland is home of Poles. Others should accept these facts and then can expect level of tolerance that is suitable to Poles to give to strangers in their own home or to send help outside of Poland, according to their wishes and capabilities.

It is all so simple.

No, it's just a split between those who want Poland to be run accord to the rule of law and those who prefer the rule of the Party.

the rule of law

More precisely between the rule of the post-RT establishment and that of those challenging their monopoly.
