Europe is far more relevant since Poland has land borders with other European countries and of course there is far more travel within Europe than across the Atlantic.

Of course, faced with a pandemic where the ultimate effects were unknown, an international effort was required and of course the World Health organisation had a role to play.


It is very easy to say that (or quite frankly anything else) with the hindsight that nobody had at the start of the pandemic. It was much harder to implement measures to prevent hospitals being swamped and to prevent food supply chains breaking down.

And fortunately Poland has a very good vaccinne take up rate, not just for Covid but also for other preventable diseases.

The info who was getting sick and dying was available within weeks of the "pandemic". That data never supported closing schools or anything else where healthy, under-60 people were willing to work. Sick and older could stay home and let others keep on supporting life. No, a country cannot go on year-long vacations and welfare.
