And that's where you might be wrong. Poland has good relations with China and doesn't recognize Taiwan as a separate state which only improves these contacts. However, unofficial contacts with Taiwan are maintained.

Why would Poland not recognize Taiwan for other reasons than trying to suck up to China? If Poland has any integrity left, they should recognize it. It's probably a fluid thing and depends on who the current ruling party in Poland is.

Many countries have de facto though not de jure recognition of Taiwan.
Only bootlicking morons like the CCP government of China which is driving the country off a cliff....
Only the worst people on earth want the CCP to take over Taiwan which, after decades of struggle, is now a democracy and politically and socially decades ahead of the primitive mainland.
and politically and socially decades ahead of the primitive mainland
Taiwan may be the world's leading producer of computer chips... but I wouldn't call mainland China primitive. Quite the opposite, its technological advancements are breathtaking.
And socio-culturally... it's a pit. Lots of videos of people in distress in public, in Taiwan those nearby try to help, in the mainland they look on with disinterest (official mainland doctrine: if you try to help a stranger it can only be because you feel guilty for causing their problems).
And a lot of the 'breathtaking' advancements are the modern equivalent of potemkin villages...
Quite the opposite, its technological advancements are breathtaking.
Were Nazi-Germany's too....
"In China, everyone is suspected of being a subversive element."
Blogger Marc Hofer first discovered an unknown Chinese surveillance tool - and then his own passport photo within it. Here he reports on the program's capabilities and what it feels like to become a target.
...Hofer: The platform aggregates data from a wide variety of sources:
for example, from the widespread public surveillance cameras with facial recognition in China, but also from individual travel data such as hotel stays. The goal is apparently to record as precisely as possible what foreigners are doing in Zhangjiakou: where they are currently located, where they are going, whom they are meeting, where they are staying, and for whom they are working. Even hospital visits, shopping trips, and refueling are included as data points. This provides the surveillance authorities with a minute-by-minute picture. ...
They need all that high-tech to keep their masses under control....
Germany developed mainly military technology, China is a world export champion, which Germany was not. Meanwhile, China dominates in virtually all technological aspects.
Let's not pretend that China doesn't make serious strategic mistakes.
What many people don't know is that India used to be a close strategic partner of China, until the latter invaded them unprovoked during the Vuban missile crisis and annexed some Tibetian land.
China got some additional land, but now shares a long land border with a rising power that absolutely hates them.
