Poland building an empire (instead of a nation)?

The empire now must be built in the hearts of men and women ... empires on land are a thing of the past ...

Yeah, but intergalactic empires will be a thing of the future! May even outlive hearts... and men and women!

Bratwurst Boy

Germany and Poland get along just fine. They rely on each other; one for exports the other for parts.

There is nothing wrong with economic expansion and free markets. Why such consternation?

As nations become more energy independent (nat gas) you'll see greater economic growth.

intergalactic empires will be a thing of the future!

The future of human's you mean?

The future of humans lay in their hearts ... in their souls! ... The days of the swords are gone ... now either you love or your die (the adjective hate is increasingly becoming aligned with death, as the nations of the world increasingly become interdependent regarding issues of environment, economy, health, security and skills).

Unless your home, your neighborhood, your community is at peace and in safety ... no intergalactic expedition will provide prosperity!

Humanity, to me, have just now one goal ... and that is to be one! To love and care for each other ... and to join hands towards a common objective of peace, prosperity, health, economy, security and development. In an increasingly globalized with, with it consistently becoming a global village ... only love is the power which can light the whole planet and pull it out of its unfortunate dark times.

Sounds like I am utopic to some... but believe me I am realistic. Just think once about it from a realistic perspective! Is it not that case nowadays... have the world ever been so integrated before? We are moving towards a period of evolution which will start taking share as fast as the rapid developments of science and technology, knowledge as all that the post 19th century world have witnessed. It is just infront of us to see.

The hearts and minds now need to open ...

My family have been involved in international trade since my great grandparents in Poland! How volumes have increased and trade become simpler, is amazing. How the world of International Business have changed is nothing less than a miracle. How everything in the world is shaping to bring things even closer ... and people so close that they actually end up feeling for each other (something very unthinkable even 50 years ago) is now seen even in countries like Poland when you have a walk in the Universities!

Hearts ... yep ... hearts and souls ... for me, these are the next targets for building true Empires!

I say let's build a huge wall, separate ourselves from all the barbarians, and thrive.

Now we live in the age of nukes.

We live in an age of touch choices ... I appeal for the choice of HEART! ... The choice of love and unity! The choice of positivity! ... The choice of truth! ... The choice of onness! ... The choice with the banners "WELCOME! LET US HELP EACH OTHER FOR A BETTER WORLD ... OUR WORLD!"

By the way ... you know about immigration I've always maintained a stance of allowing three kinds primarily:

1. Children between 6 and 10
2. Undergrad students
3. Grad students

They can be eligible for work and stay if they do satisfactory at the universities, and show responsible behavior in fare manners (anyone will get angry with violence, which is nothing to be blamed for...).

The 4th, which are workers from other nations, should be allowed in and then respectfully let go to their countries. IF they wish to stay, they must agree to take language courses, culture courses, and show a wish to integrate. Perhaps write an essay over it.

Every immigrant must go though HIV/AIDS and other STD tests. Not only that, the immigrants who tend to integrate among the locals, wish to settle in with a local ... and is a valuable human resource ... should (infact) must be welcome and accommodated.

We must only check whether they can bear their expenses for around 6 months (or 1 year maximum) in Poland without having to be in trouble. But usually I've heard that our fools in other countries check their bank accounts. Which is very easily manufactured, plus, the wrong people tend to have no shortage of money. The good people, usually from the middle class, those who we would actually be the better immigrant (and later a respectable citizen with equal rights - I am anti deportation, as I see it stupid if someone now have adopted my country).

So yes, there are laws which need to be repaired. If you see clearly, my suggestions are also in accordance to the psychological terms of the individual. Those ages are the best times for getting them to integrate.

I again say, that married men and women who want to immigrate with their teenage children should be "last of the list". They will never be able to integrate. They can come if they really have no other option with them. This can always be checked.

countries. IF they wish to stay, they must agree to take language courses, culture courses,
and show a wish to integrate. Perhaps write an essay over it.

Possibly a book. Minimum 300 pages long. Then we woud create libraries containing all the
books written by immigrant workers and it would be compulsory for all the new immigrants
to be a member of such library and read at least 2 books a month to fully realize the necessity
of integration. *rolls eyes*

Or, alternatively, we can just refuse to accept immigrants from third world and muslim
countries. Poland was never a colonial power, so we have no moral obligation whatsoever
to accept immigration from those countries. If former colonial powers, who looted half the
world and slaughtered people on all continents, are feeling stings of remorse, then very
well - let them go through their redemption and let it be as painful as possible, but Poland
should have nothing to do with it.

You miss the point. Writing an essay is something logical and practiced by immigration offices in many parts of the world. Read what I wrote... I think you didn't decode it well.

alternatively, we can just refuse to accept immigrants from third world and muslim
countries.

We have to know who we let in. Its not about third world or 4th world, or muslim even. Its about humans. IT IS ONE WORLD. You know that during WW2, many Poles were given shelter in Iran and India. I once posted links here ... they still have communities there and have websites of people who remember their past.

Again, even if you don't want to put that into your account. I would like to assure you that in today's world, we cannot do what you suggest. This is highly aggressive and very segregatory. You impose such a law, and I including many people who think like me with rise even much more aggressively :) ... why should we fight against each other?

The best policy is the policy of intelligence ... rationing devices ... as I mentioned ... elaborate there, that is more sensible. Closing doors is never sensible ... and increasingly you will notice that the trend is (and will remain, due to the evolutionary trend) to open gates

Erm... refusing to pay the bill for somebody else's faults and crimes is aggressive?

I including many people who think like me with rise even much more aggressively :) ...

By all means - rise up and fight. I'm already trembling with fear. *rolls eyes*

The best policy is the policy of intelligence

Unfortunately, intelligence is a very rare commodity nowadays.

Closing doors is never sensible

Sometimes closing doors is the ONLY sensible solution, and I bet that many countries
in Western Europe wish they had closed the doors in the past. For them it is too late
now. We can still survive.

and increasingly you will notice that the trend is (and will remain, due to the evolutionary
trend) to open gates

In some countries the trend appears to be exactly the opposite, and they are seriously
thinking about ways to stop, or at least significantly decrease third world immigration.

Poland has the advantage of accepting neighbour slavic countries immigrants who will not change the social infrastructure and culture much and will quickly adapt.

slavic countries immigrants

They are themselves having a population catastrophe (going down like mad)!

I would simply allow any slavic immigrant to come in giving first priority to those with ukrainian looks.

It is not simple immigration, I would call this process as replacement. Poor Poles are fleeing west while poor western ukrainians replace them in Poland.

So, who is building empire then?

Whistling in the wind?

Consumptionomics

Consumption has been the fuel that has driven the engine of global capitalism. The recent financial crisis has seen the West's leading economists and policy makers urging Asia to make a conscious effort to consume more and thereby help save the global economy. This is a view shaped by conventional wisdom which conveniently refuses to acknowledge both the unpleasant effects of consumption and the limits to growth. Consumptionomics argues that this blinkered view needs to be replaced by a more rational approach to the challenges of the 21st century. If Asians aspire to consumption levels taken for granted in the West the results will be environmentally catastrophic across the globe. Needless to say it will also have significant geopolitical impacts as nations scramble for diminishing resources. Asian governments and leaders find themselves at a crossroads. They may either continue on the current, unsustainable path of Western-style consumption-led capitalism, disregarding the evidence, or they may realize that they hold the unenviable responsibility of leading the world to a more sustainable path. The solutions will entail making sensitive political choices and adopting certain forms of government to effect such a fundamental change of direction. This will all fly in the face of current ideological beliefs rooted in free market capitalism. But if Asia is willing to take on this responsibility it will help to save the planet whilst reshaping capitalism.

You bet we would, Crow. You would be the craziest, most savage Hetman Polny Koronny
in the history of Poland :) We would keep you somewhere south, to guard borders and lead
armies against Turkey, and if you excelled on the battlefield (as I'm sure you would) we would
allow you to make a little excursion to Albania every now and again :)

Here's your buława hetmańska, Crow. Use it wisely and never raise your hand against Poland - your mother.

Consumptionomics: Asia’s Role in Reshaping Capitalism and Saving the Planet, by Chandran Nair

...Throughout the book, Nair evinces an angry disdain for western-style capitalism, which he regards as setting the world on a path to destruction by its devotion to the ideology of markets and its voracious appetite for finite resources. He’s none too complimentary either about its media cheerleaders, including this newspaper [The Financial Times].

“The biggest lie of all is that consumption-driven capitalism can deliver wealth to all,” he writes. “In Asia it can only deliver short-term wealth to a minority; in the long term, it can only deliver misery to all. This is the intellectual dishonesty at the heart of the model the west has peddled to Asia.”...

Now its important we go either for socialism or a mixed economy.

No solution. Either, or both of these are predicated on growth. Asia is bailing out the west because it alone has the demographic potential and just enough expertise to deliver this. The West (until such time as it collectively takes its knickers off and starts making out again) doesn't, except at a bleeding edge of innovation which remains just a little out of reach of its competitors.

Might sound like a corny Malthusian argument but that's what's driving any money-based system. The value of money decays over time, so other means have to be found to preserve value in a system. Consumption+credit is what devalues it - and yes, socialists consume too. Population growth is the necessary counterbalance, without which the whole thing simply runs out of fuel.

any money-based system. The value of money decays over time, so other means have to be found to preserve value in a system.

If value of a money decays over time, another money can be found to preserve value in a system.

What other means can replace money as a value in a system? Zeingeists mentioned resource based economy, but, it neglects humans while it is good to remind the globalism. Money has not done its real work yet as a global system has never been established.

As for Poland building an empire. There are already five empires in the world, those five permanent UN members. Poland can ask them to get a permanent empire title of one of them. I guess, everyone of them will accept to leave their title to Poland happily.

Fail.

Think about it.

Where does the other money come from? If the central bank just prints it, that raises the supply and lowers its value still further.

As elsewhere, you're confusing the signifier (in this case, money) with the signified - here, the generated wealth that lies beneath it. Value preservation can only happen in the presence of the latter. Which, as I say, entails economic and ultimately demographic growth.
NomadatNet 1 | 457
7 Feb 2011 #56
(Ok, You are economist? I am not, however, I have simple opinions like everybody who uses money.)

Central banks print the money, yes, but, they don't trust the money - you can think this is related to trustabilities of political governments elected by ordinary folks as economy ministers are political characters - hence, central banks still speak language of gold to compare the value of money. Central banks of states don't trust central banks of other countries either. So, who are controlling the money printing then? Is there any money really anywhere valid everywhere in the world?

Money is signifier? Or, signified? debatable. I don't understand what is meant by generated wealth. You mean lands and natural resources or value added products by labor works? If the latter, then, it's why money exists though, this reason is not known well in this way of global system in which the power sees the labor work in money as the military force labor that is not exactly correct.
AdamKadmon 2 | 501

No worry, I'll not reveal your secret knowledge of money (you can keep your money in Swiss bank.)

But, admit it, it was almost exact definition of money. Money is a valueless item when it sleeps in the bank bed, it becomes valuable item when it moves and this movement makes it a sphere (flipping a coin.)
